Similarly looking devices with more secure connection are available at "Pound Land" here in Aberdeen. (Loose connections at higher loads might generate a great deal of heat). OK, well, they do work, but not well. I'm using one of the 3 (as noted above), but I would NOT buy these again. I use it with my 65w travel pwr supply for my laptop (at 240VAC, that's about 1/4 Amp) but I'd be reluctant to leave anything of higher power plugged in, because of the loose connection. As noted by an earlier poster, plugs of devices you connect to it do not engage securely.
Similar adapters were about $15 each at Heathrow Airport in London. My laptop has a 3-pin plug and the hard drive has a 2-pin plug. I bought these in August 2008 to use with my laptop and hard drive when I'm in the UK. The adapters are fairly sturdy and, including delivery, I paid about $3 each. I haven't had any problems with bad connections as mentioned in the other review.
Even wIth standard plugs, they do not sit in the adapter securely, making a bad connection. This product does not accept US plugs which have the different sized prongs (one larger than the other). Not recommended at all.
