4 Way Countdown Wooden Game Reviews
This is the first time I saw this game where four could play at one time and could see the advantages right away. We still take turns by waiting for the other people but we get to play off of our own numbers and don't have to wait for someone to finish a whole game before they pass it on to someone else. I have the "Shut the Box" game and have played it over the years. If I play with someone else we must take turns handing the box back and fourth. This is great for me, my two granddaughters and the neighbor girl to all compete at the same time and get the added benefit of learning math without realizing it. Now with the Four Way Countdown, four of us can play at the same time.
We all chip in some money and each player rolls the dice and gets rid of the numbers, until he can't roll anymore, the player with the lowest number wins. It's fine for kids but adults can have fun too.
I couldn't find it anywhere except Amazon.com. We like it - they can play at their level (addition and subtraction, or add multiplication and division), and should be good until about 9 or 10 years of age. I wanted a game for my 5 and 7 year old to practice math, and her teacher recommended this. Sort of like Yahtzee, only you have to actually do the math.
This is a game that all of my children enjoy (ages 3-9). I was expecting to have to coax the kids to play and practice their math facts, but they genuinely have fun and need no encouragement. They play it often and I have noticed a definite improvement in their speed and accuracy.
I really like the portability. MOM of 3 There are not a lot of little pieces which I LOVE and if you do lose anything, it's the dice and you can always purchase more dice anywhere. We have a little girl (10 yrs) in our group and she is behind the others and she enjoyed the game more than anybody. This toy is great especially for younger children and children with ADHD.
