Acoustic Research PR431 High Performance 2.5 GHZ, 3-way splitter Reviews
I plug in the cheapie 1GHz splitter, my VHF and UHF analog signals are fine. Missing. And if you're getting your HD from cable, you can always call them to come fix any HD woes, it's probably cheaper than some good RG6 cables and a splitter or two.
I have had absolutely horrible luck with splitters. Totally. My HDTV (broadcast on the local cable up on CH106, 107, 108, around 700MHz) is gone.
If your HDTV is a bit dicey, throw out all of your RG58 cables, replace any splitters with 2.5 or 2 GHz splitters, and test any signal amplifiers in the chain (my Motorola one passes HD fine, my other one claims the same bandwidth as the Motorola - kills HD dead). I swap in this splitter into my newly-all-RG6-cable system, signal strength at 98%. This is one of the best-made ones out there.
The typical 900MHz or 1GHz-rated ones must be simply fabricating their specs (and no, I'm not an RF engineer, I don't know why a splitter functions as a low-pass filter).
I used this to split the TV side of my Cablevision IO service. I have this working with 2 HD sets and 1 analog set.
Or perhaps it's the placebo affect. But it fixed the problem, and now I have a strong signal going to both my TV and modem. It's worth it to splurge a little on this handy device. The splitter by Acoustic Research was comfortable for my wallet too, being much cheaper than the similar Monster cables. The video appears to be much sharper with the AR splitter, especially on the high definition channels. Two of the cheapo splitters from my cable provider suddenly stopped working, so I decided it was time to get something a little better.
The signal levels were correct. Installation was easy. The product arrived on time and was a full retail package. The product works as advertised. I had a cable company tech out because of some other issues and he tested the signal strength on the input and output lines.
This splitter works exceptionally well. If you have a problem with the one you purchased, you probably either aren't terminating all of the outputs properly or you got a defective one. Highly recommended.
