I bought this under my account but am going to give it to my mom for her birthday seems to work great so far.
This version is amaizing, with 120 Gb of capacity and it is thin enough when you compare with previews editions (5.5, 4.).
The price was finally right for me. Enjoying the extra 100GB of space. I previously owned a 20 GB Rio Riot (bought in 2003 for $220) which still works well. Had to buy a new MP3 player because the RR doesn't work with my new Mac Pro. So far so good.
Apple was very smart to not phase this model out because it's a great music player with a massive capacity for songs, videos, photos. Once in a while there's a little lag when operating the wheel, but that's it.
I was tempted by the "cooler" iPod Touch, but ruled against it because I'm not an apps or games person and don't care for watching movies on a 3-inch screen. Unlike my Nano, I won't have to worry about maxing this one out.
I chose the Classic for the music capacity. I've had my Classic for about 5 days and so far so great.
Keeping my fingers crossed I don't have any freezing, etc., as some of the other reviewers. My last one was a Nano, but after a while the 8G capacity just wasn't enough.
I got tired of rotating songs out to make room for new ones.
If this was your first iPod you would be lost. I love this iPod. My only concern was that it came with no documentation. The ipod was a great value for the money. It arrived in record time and I have loaded it up with all my songs. The documentation is online at apple.com if you need it.
