Apple iPod classic 160 GB Black (6th Generation) Reviews
Unlike the Sansa, the i-pod does not come with a built in am-fm radio. I purchased the IPOD 80gb classic. Overall, dollar for dollar, the i-pod (for storage and amount of media that can be stored) is the better of the two products. I was mildly dissapointed in that you have to use the i-tunes software to manage (store or remove)the media on the i-pod. I consider myself pretty computer savy, however this software has given me several unpleasant surprises by not knowing all the in's and out's of this software. The software (in my opinion) from i-tunes is not very user friendly. After owning and being very happy with SANSA (Sandisk product)with the exception of not being able to add more than 2 gb storage.
I can't add more than already written. The price at Amazon was the lowest on the Internet with free shipping and no sales tax to pay. It's a good product and I'm pleased with it.
I have no problem going through my albumns, no problem navigating at all. The only thing missing is an A/V adaptor on Amazon so you can watch videos on your TV the same as the older versions. I love music the most so I can fit all 600 of my CD's on one device like a jukebox. I have a 160g IPOD and I think its worth every penny. I'd like to see even a bigger one that I could fit more movies on it, that would be awesome. I can't say enough about this product. I love music videos so I can watch them again and not get a whole dvd for just a few videos.
I have no regrets buying it. You can not only put a huge amount of music on the IPOD classice, you can put music videos, TV shows, movies, pictures on this. This has so many things I love all in one. This is a great product. I love my Ipod. I love the play lists and the way you can select what you like the most by rating them and using that as a play list. If you especially love music and have a huge collection, I highly recommnend the IPOD classic espcially the 160g then you don't have to upgrade anytiime soon.
You can also put in reminders, notes, games, books on disc, contacts, tell the time in different time zones, alarms and timers. I also like that you can just listen to music videos as just a song so it doesn't use up the battery watching them too. I have tons of music and have put much of it on my IPOD classic, I can't wait to put the rest of my music on it. I'd like to see Itunes get more music videos from the 80s especially the early and mid 80s I'd get more. I love watching my favorite TV episodes and movies and I can have all this on one hand held device and set it up the way I like it.
I ordered this for my son; he is very happy with it. It has more features then his other 80GB IPod, which was stolen.
I won't be buying any Apple products in the future. Anything more and the iPod and iTunes crashed. Battery life is very long. I could still navigate through menus, but there was no music on it, and I couldn't get iTunes to recognize it. I didn't read any reviews before buying the iPod, because Apple has a long history of making iPods, they are very popular, and my best friend has a generation 5 iPod that he loved. It was not possible to "restore" it in iTunes. But once I started having problems, I looked at many reviews (on Amazon and off), and I found a high number of people who reported problems with syncing and dying iPods.
Apple iPod classic 160 GB Black (6th Generation). My iPod experience was both heartbreaking and frustrating. I tried Winamp and the ml_ipod plugin that comes so highly recommended. He started monitoring the site and saw that a number of other similar posts from other users were also deleted. I "restored" the hard drive (which is like reformatting it) in iTunes, but this didn't make a difference. Over and no deal.
The screen is terrific. Sound quality was solid. The menu structure is logical and friendly. One person said that he posted negative comments about syncing and hard drive problems on Apple's discussion forum and that Apple was deleting his posts.
I guess Apple knows about the problem but doesn't want us to know. I was attracted to the iPod Classic 160gb because of its storage capacity and the Apple iPod's (undeserved) reputation. Under 10gb, no problem. The good: the iPod looks great, and it was super easy to navigate through menus. The cover art flow feature is fantastic.
The bad: iTunes is quite limiting and syncing did not go well. Resetting it didn't help. I've read very good reviews about the Creative Zen 32gb and the new Zen X-Fi, so I ordered one last night. With it, you can scan through all of your album covers from A-Z and then pick whatever you want.
Luckily mine died within the 30-day return period (I bought it from J&R through Amazon), and I'm getting a refund. It's large, nice resolution and easy to see in bright sunlight. In fact, I was unable to load more than 10gb onto the iPod. Same result.
I was able to use the iPod out of the box without looking at the user's guide. The ugly: after several weeks, my iPod's hard drive failed completely (it's corrupted). You can adjust the brightness. I'm sorely disappointed that I there isn't another high capacity mp3 player like the iPod (I haven't read good things about the Zune 80gb), but I'd rather have 32gb of great sound quality and a working unit than a 160gb paperweight.
