Apple iPod touch 8 GB with Software Upgrade

(not the iPhone) With the Apple iPod touch, Apple has married the iPhone's revolutionary multi-touch interface to their popular digital media player. So instead of a Click Wheel, you just use your fingers to flick through your music, photos, and video. Two fingers can be used in a pinching or spreading motion as well, which zooms in and out of photos and web pages. That's right, the iPod touch is the first iPod to offer web access. It does this via built-in Wi-Fi support. There's even a special iTunes Wi-Fi Store, so you can browse and purchase new music and video while you're on the road. The latest iPod touch now offers a suite of new applications, including email, maps, and handy widgets for weather, notes, and stocks. The new iPod touch also features a customizable home screen that lets you rearrange buttons and create your own Web Clips. Mark specific locations, find the best route between them, and search for points of interest along the way. With a hybrid map and satellite view, you can see major street names on top of satellite images.

Widgets
Widgets are small, incredibly handy applications you can use every day. Three of the most useful widgets now live front and center on your Home screen:

Weather
Get a five-day weather forecast, including highs and lows, for cities around the world. Save your favorite locations so you can check the weather anytime.

Notes
Take notes, make a to-do list, or jot down a reminder using the easy-to-use touch keypad. Then save or email them.

Stocks
Check your stocks and track the market over one day, one week, one month, three months, six months, one year, or two years.

High Technology
iPod touch features the same revolutionary interface as iPhone, the most advanced software ever engineered, and state-of-the-art technology. With the multi-touch display, you can control everything using only your fingers. If you rotate your iPod touch from portrait to landscape, the accelerometer automatically changes the way the content is displayed. And with wireless technology, you can connect to the Internet from any Wi-Fi network, anywhere you are.

Multi-touch
iPod touch features the same revolutionary interface as iPhone. Built to take full advantage of the large 3.5-inch display, the multi-touch interface lets you control everything using only your fingers. So you can glide through albums with Cover Flow, flick through photos and enlarge them with a pinch, or zoom in and out on a section of a web page. And iPod touch features a touchscreen QWERTY keyboard perfect for browsing the web in Safari, getting directions on a map, searching for videos on YouTube, finding music on the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, or adding new contacts.

Ambient Light Sensor
The iPod touch display has an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts brightness to suit the ambient light in your surroundings. The result? A better experience for you and battery-saving efficiency for iPod touch.

Wireless
Connect to the Internet anywhere there's a Wi-Fi network. Send email from a coffee shop. Surf the web at the airport. Browse, buy, and download music from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store at select Starbucks locations or other wireless hot spots in your area. iPod touch finds wireless networks and connects you to the Internet.

Accelerometer
An accelerometer detects when you rotate iPod touch from portrait to landscape, then automatically changes the contents of the display, so you immediately see the entire width of a web page, your music in Cover Flow, or a photo in its proper aspect ratio.

Apple iPod touch 8 GB with Software Upgrade Reviews

The actual iPod touch had quite a few significant scratches on the back. This was pretty annoying because the seller had advertised the product with a 'Like New' description. I personally don't think that a little used product should be considerably scratched. The price asked, $289 was however, significantly below the actual $400 price, so I am quite happy with my product on the whole. The seller was prompt and helpful when contacted about arranging an alternate shipping address.

Buy it in Amazon. I purchased this product late April, and i just updated it for the 2.0 iphone software update, and its just great. you can play now great games and has a bunch of free applications available on the itunes store, amazon has a great deal on this ipod touch, because if you want to buy it on a retailer store, the price is 325.00 dlls with tax and the gas money for the car that you are driving, etc.

Itunes was a little slow to install but I think that it's just my anti-virus software that is holding things up. Please be aware that it all depends on what the supplier has. Wi-Fi is a very nice inclusion and the ability to check your email is fantastic. I purchased this model late Tuesday night and was able to get a $10 discount and free super saver shipping. The box does come with a cloth so; no problem. I was aware that version 2.0 came out and I wasn't expecting my ipod touch to have it.

Going through all the programs that are pre-loaded is easy. Not bad with free shipping and it ended up arriving 3 full days after I ordered it. This is an amazing piece of harware. This might drive some people crazy, as for me, I just grunt or shrug my shoulders.

Sure enough, the expected arrival date was between July 28th-August 1st. If you went to Apple's website, possibly you would be able to buy an Ipod touch with the new software upgrade but I'm betting that the price will be somewhat higher. Much to my amazement also, when I ordered my ipod touch, the next day the price dropped. It would depend on when Apple ships out the Ipod touch with the new software upgrade. I have a lot of cd's and time and time again they get scratched and repeat or don't play at all. Enjoy. The only minus is that the metal underneath the nice screen easily can be covered with fingerprints. Amazon had the lowest price and my Ipod works like a charm.

Many people were complaining that they didn't get the software upgrade they were expecting- 2.0. The picture is outstanding, the sounds are amazing, and the new programs on it are something special. I also bought this in preperation for my new car that has Microsoft Sync with an MP3 player jack. My wife and I love to eat at Panera Bread which has Wi-Fi. I recieved it today.

I knew that the super saver shipping would delay me having the Ipod in my hand but Amazon has been terrific when it comes to shipping. The touch screen is very sleek and responds gently to your touch.

As I said before, the picture quality is amazing. It's time for me to put my cd's on my Ipod ( I did a few; it's easy).

It is true that the Ipod touch is the most expensive out of all MP3 players but it's very sleek, easy to handle, easy to download songs on, and for anyone who likes to surf the internet or check their email; this is an outstanding product. Setting up an itunes account was easy and synchonizing my ipod was a sinch.

Out of the box, it was easy to set up. Very annoying.

In Amazon's case, they probably still have the 1.1's. I haven't seen any reviewer say that they just bought their Ipod touch and it has version 2.0.

First of all, it is thinner and more solid feeling in the hand than the iPhone. Well, since the main criticisms of the iPod touch - mainly that it is a lame-duck version of the iPhone (which is complete garbage) have been addressed, the only fact that remains is that it is by far the most attractive and feature packed media player on the market. This is better than the iPhone. Just my 5 cents. flights, train, and so on. Are people getting so lazy nowadays that they can't carry around a dedicated media player and a phone. Perfect for listening to music and entertaining oneself on subway or in flights.

Second, it has all the features of the iPhone except the camera and PDA features. Call me old fashioned, but the virtual number keypad isn't my cup of tea. I have some friends who have gotten the iPhone and those who do all envy my current configuration. Who doesn't carry a laptop to work these days. Even if that phone happens to feature far superior phone features and camera. I work in New York City and pretty much all my co-workers and I have a solid featured phone with decent camera (I have a Nokia N82 - 5.0MP camera with xenon flash), an ultramobile laptop, and an iPod of some type.

The solution for the PDA features is pretty obvious; a laptop. Every young professional who is well-connected has the same setup. Obvious, isn't it. I absolutely love this iPod touch and it fills my needs exactly what I purchased it for; to entertain me during extended down times ie. The only reason why I'd recommend someone to get the iPhone over the iPod touch is if they are on a pretty thin budget and need a PDA because they can't afford an ultramobile laptop like an IBM or XPS M1330 and a decent phone with a nice camera. Both of those problems are solved by getting a dedicated phone that #1) probably has a better camera (with flash) and #2) has better customization options as well as better phone functionality.

I have been using a very tired, beat up, and abused 3rd gen iPod for years now. Reliability beats cool looks every time. Because it works. So, the old lesson is learned again.

Save your money on this one - something more reliable will come along someday. The iPod touch will go on the shelf, and I'll dig out the 3rd gen and keep using it until it dies. The thing is absolutely bulletproof.

I bought the iPod touch hoping to have the same results plus You Tube, Safari, etc. But the Wifi is so unreliable that the apps only serve as a constant reminder of what you would like to have but can't.
