If it does byte the dust (mice do after some time), I will not hesitate to order another one (well, I have three already.). It is accurate, fits my hands well, and hasn't let me down yet (the track ball get clogged up somtimes, but so far I've always been able to get it working again by using a moist towel and rubbing the track ball back and forth really hard - it gets unclogged relatively easily that way). I like the mouse - I have it configured as a three-button-mouse and use the scroll ball all the time.
Cleaning it is simply impossible to do. Do not be affected by the outer beauty of this mouse. My might mouse now lives with the mice in garbage. The scroll is awful, as it simply cannot be used after few days. Buttons can not be pressed together, buttons are not distinguished, so you press right button and the left get pressed instead. It is the worst mouse I ever seen. Imagine selecting huge piece of text and then press the right button for options, and the left got pressed and you lose all the selected text.
If it likes the surface, you have a great mousepad. Contrary to popular cut-and-paste 'witticisms', this mouse is designed on a function-leading-form logic. The best thing is to turn everything off for the first day or so, then add the other functions slowly. I use this thing all day long, every day, working with adobe products. The optical sensor is very sensitive. When used with Apple's mouse control panel, you can customize or disable buttons to suit your needs. Final note: this mouse has teflon sliders on the bottom.
I prefer it to 'ergonomic' designs that only allow your hand to be in one grip position. With this mouse, you can finesse it with different grips, and it weighs less - nice when brushing or moving things around rapidly. Try it out on different smooth materials. Once you get used to sliding this mouse around on a slick surface, you'll get in tune with an effortless way to mouse. Can't find fault in this mouse, although the wireless version is a worthless and heavy device to be avoided at all costs. This is where most complaints are coming from - you can have two-click or one-click, and you have to know which one you are using as well as any other functions. It's best for your wrist if you get the hardest, slickest surface possible - even the actual surface of the desk will work in some cases.
Except Apple computer engineers. You can't clean the inside of an Apple Mighty Mouse, and that's a design flaw, plain and simple. After 3-6 months of use, it will become gunked up and will stop working. This is a flawed product. Additionally, the side buttons are unusable, and my guess is that these were never properly vetted by the engineers during R&D. Eventually a mouse's scroll wheel/ball will need to be cleaned. This is a fact that every computer user on the planet understands and accepts.
Final opinion: for no more than $20, I'd buy this for home. I got this mouse when my work computer was upgraded. But because of these issues, I'll be sticking to my regular 'windows' bluetooth mouse for home, because this one seems to be much too moody. So not sure what's wrong there.
It decided to stop scrolling up one day because it was dirty I guess. Today, the side buttons have stopped working, and even after cleaning and unplugging they still won't work. Also, there is apparently a 3rd mouse button (left click is 1, rt click is 2, side buttons are 4) that launches dashboard. Drawbacks: I've already had to use the can o air on the scroll wheel a couple times (had the mouse for about 3 weeks).
The scroll wheel is great, the side buttons launching spaces is super easy and convenient, and I love the sensitivity. When it works, it's awesome. I sometimes manage to click this 3rd button on accident, but not matter how hard I try I can't seem to find where the point on the mouse is to click it on purpose.
