Atlantic Multimedia Cabinet (DRA280MM03) (DRA280MM03) Reviews
I wouldn't necessarily recommend using it for books or your priceless collection of Lladro figurines, but for DVDs and CDs it works great, and I've not had any problems with it coming apart or anything. This unit is exactly what I expected for the price that I paid, and for the lightweight use for DVDs and CDs it works great. We bought one of these back in March, 2008 and I am getting ready to order another one. I like that it matches the "entertainment center" that we bought for our LCD television. We need more dvd/cd storage. If you are looking for something to store your DVDs and CDS in, I would recommend this.
I read about the trouble people were having with the shelves falling down and I think it's because the sides can bow outward easily. All the parts on both units fit together well (although one of the units definitely had better quality-control than the other) and it only took about 10 minutes to assemble each of them. Both of them came with screws that were far too small to hold the pieces together so I had to go to my parts drawer and get some real screws (#6 1-1/4" worked fine). I had all of the stuff lying around so it didn't add any cost, and it added an extra 10 minutes to the set-up time. I overcame that by installing a screw at the mid-point of each upright on the back side, and then tying the two screws together with a piece of picture hanging wire across the back of the unit. You need to use the glue if you don't want it to wiggle. I bought two of these.
Anything this cheap is going to have issues, but some of them can be overcome pretty easily. I did use the glue generously on the wood pegs and at each end of the uprights. Now the sides can't bow out. With the modifications, the shelf is very sturdy. It's definitely not a showy unit, but it's fine for the price.
if your considering buying this item think again unless you want to trhow your money away don't let the price fool you, its garbage. This bookshelf sucks, ive had it for less then2 weeks and its already fallen apart.
Also.the unit does not hold as many DVD's as advertised.at least not in an upright position. The shelves aren't evenly distributed so the last shelf holds the DVD's laying down. I usually don't review items, but this one was so bad that I couldn't help but want to warn anyone who is thinking of purchasing it. Buyer beware. I returned mine and got a really nice piece from Target for a few bucks more. The back panel came in broken and the shelves were rough. (I knew this wasn't solid wood, but usually, screws will take).
It's truly a case of "you get what you pay for.". After putting it "together", it LITERALLY fell apart as soon as I picked it up to move it to the spot where it was going. Overall.this product is not worth the already cheap price. The screws did not even stay in the fake wood. The quality and construction of this unit is horrible.
I would not recommened this product to anyone, since it is junk. This product has already fallen apart, and all I have in it is DVD's.
