AT&T 1718 Digital Answering System with Time/Date Stamp (Espresso) *no caller ID Reviews

The only real issues I have with this machine are 1) the length of time is not sufficient for many messages if you're not arround to retrieve them and 2) the sound quality is rather bad. Maybe the production run was spotty and some bad ones got through QC or something. You must hold it for a few seconds and then old messages will be heard. The manual says to hold down the Play button and that works fine.

They are time-stamped if you set the time so you should have no problems figuring out when they came in. I have not had many of the issues written about here. It's been extremely reliable as well. Buy it if it's cheap due to lack of features and sound quality.

I will say that I have no problems listening to past messages.

My only complaint is that if there is a power outage, you lose the correct time and also the date,. so it's all off until you reset it. So basically it's easy to use and that's good enough for me, I'm not planning on replacing it anytime soon. Since it was our first digital answering machine, anything could impress us.

I especially like the remote features. After reading the horrible reviews on this answering machine I decided to take a chance. I've had it now for 2 months and I can honestly say it is the best answering machine I ever had. The sound is great, both incoming and outgoing, and it is very simple to program and operate.

It doesn't work the way the manual claims in this respect. You can play back messages, but you have to hit repeat and play several times in an unknown sequence. And, my outgoing message doesn't sound like me according to callers and the incoming messages are so garbled we can hardly understand the message (which requires us to replay which is really frustrating see above). I've just lucked out to get it to replay. You will lose your outgoing message and your time/date stamp every time. This machine does not have a battery back up so if you have frequent power interuptions, do not buy it. This is a terrible answering machine. Do not waste your money on it.

The memory fills up quickly with messages you can't listen to. It won't replay messages so if you don't get it all the first time you're SOL. It doesn't give you a date stamp, month day and year, it will only state the day of the week and time of the day which is not at all helpful. This is the worst machine I've ever purchased. Turning the machine off is the only way to dump the memory. I never would have bought this piece of [junk] if I'd known it is an utterly unreliable useless machine.
