You can adjust the playback volume level to suit your liking, while a variable speed playback feature lets you slow down messages, making them easier to understand. A message counter gives you a visual indication of how many messages your system has received, and the Message Guard memory protection ensures that your messages are safe should a power failure occur. AT&T 1738 40-Minute Digital Answering System with Time/Day Stamp Reviews

A separate manual exists for each of the two languges, English and Spanish. Check your messages away from home. I have used this for more than 6 months and find it a great little answering machine. Complete easy-to-read manual instructions.

I have purchased this machine because I wanted one that was quality built, easy to use, and decent to look at. Hence, I paid more than $60.00. . etc.

Answering machine - nice and compact. Another great feature of this machine is that is attractive without being bulky or cumbersome. Repeat, help, announcements, etc. One of the better features is that you can dial from a touch-tone phone into your voice messages, and with a small cheat sheet, pressing the numbers for playing all, reviewing, deleting, playing new messages only. To further aid, there is a picture of the front of the answering machine and provides clear explanation of each of the buttons.Rizzo.

The page folds include everything you may need to know, including if you are having difficulties. The manual unfolds to large size, the print is clear and better yet, the instructions are well-written.

The lights came back on, but I don't know whether it is going to accept messages again. I often had to listen to messages several times. The buttons and settings were easy to use, so this was a plus.

Messages coming from cell phones were usually impossible to decipher. I turned it off, to see if I could reset it. It would not turn back on again.

The quality of the outgoing message was good, but the incoming messages had poor quality. The extra background noise added to the already poor sound quality just turned the messages to complete garble. Today, after two years, it just stopped answering.

I unplugged it and plugged it back in.

Had we had time to return it we would have but my father in law was having very bad medical problems which is what prompted us to buy this answering machine to begin with, she used to have voice mail on her phone but it had gone up to 12.00 a month and I told her for that price and a few dollars more she could have another answering machine since her other one lasted her about 10 years before the tapes went out and at that point they started offering free voice mail in the package of Cox telephone, cable and internet well she has the internet strictly for the grandkids for when they go over to visit so since they have 4 kids that have kids that go over and use the internet often while their parents are visiting to give them something to do since it's a bundle my wife found out how much it would cost just for the internet and because "grandmaw" won't take direct cash from her kids/grandkids they get together and give her one huge gift card to offset the fact that she has taken care of her father for 8 years he passed and then her mother for 9 years she has passed and all this time for 17 years next week she has raised a grandchild who is severe add/adhd/bipolar and the list goes on and on because his mother hasn't spoke to him in years and my wifes brother the father lives right next door however he is a cop and goes to work at 3 am and the state requires someone be with him 24/7 be it school or home and someone must dispense his medications so this lady has really done one heck of a job by taking care of both parents until death a grandchild since birth only due to the fact that when he was born his father no knowing about the baby had just signed for 6 years in the military, right after this answering machine was purchased not only was she constantly waiting for calls from the doctor for her husband but her grandchild she had raised ended up falling out of a tree since they are country people and broke his hip and crushed both legs so while she was at the hospital with him she was able to call back we thought to get her messages which that feature doesn't work either, I thought she was doing something wrong and being that my wife went there even though she is handicap to take care of her father I did everything I could to try to get it to where she could retrieve messages over the phone and it would not work so I would not suggest anyone buy this item for 5.00 more I could have gotten a much better one but we thought from what we read and the name brand we were buying something worth having and it was just the opposite. I purchased this item for my mother in law she is all of 61 years old has had answering machines before and knows how to hook them up well this time it took her, both my brothers and a neighbor to try to figure out how to hook it up and still she cannot figure out all the features on it I honestly don't think the features they advertise actually are on the machine. Keep your money in your pocket or wherever and pick a different product if you want to use some of the features like calling from another phone to get your messages, there is another one that would allow it to go to like 6 rings before the answering machine would kick in can't get that to work since they sit out on the porch alot it's set at 6 and picks up someone on the first ring you never know when it will pick up so like I said spend a few dollars more like I wish I had done and get a good one instead of this piece of junk.

The worst that ever happened to me is that after a power outage I had to reset the clock. You can also choose whether or not to have the system pick up blocked phone calls. I have had this a while now and I don't regret my purchase. Personally I've never had a problem with this telephone answering machine. This answering machine lets you choose voice prompts in either English or Spanish; and you can choose an easy to remember remote access code so you can pick up your messages without being home.

I searched through the booklet but I could not find a phone number for customer service. Yes, sometimes the message (both outgoing and incoming) playback sounds slightly too slow or too fast; but the playback is still clear and the messages people leave you are perfectly understandable. It takes five minutes with the easy to understand directions booklet that comes with this machine. The clock is easy to set up and the time date stamp is useful for time sensitive messages. The booklet also gives you a website to go to if you have any questions.

The feature setup requires your attention; but if you do it right (which takes about ten minutesfifteen tops) you'll be glad you did. There's much more, too. The AT&T 1738 answering machine gives you a lot for your money. With 40 minutes of digital messaging capacity you really can't go wrong; and AT&T is still a very good brand for this type of answering machine. The machine also takes up very little space (maybe 6 inches by 4 or 5 inches tops); and the digital features means that there's no small cassette tape to replace ever.

Overall, I highly recommend this answering machine. Great. This machine attaches easily to your phone and the electrical outlet.

For those of us who are challenged with the gadgets of today, this machine could not be any simpler to use. A great buy compared to some of the others out there.
