AT&T SL82318 DECT 6.0 Digital Three Handset Answering System (Silver/Gray) Reviews

Maybe it's just me, but whenever I hold the handset, my hand and thumb are naturally resting on this button. from the base. Maybe this is normal with the new DECT 6 electronics, but in any case, both my wife (especially) and I found it unacceptable. The DECT 1.9 frequency does not interfere with a wireless router. Cons: Two things that were a real problem from the start and prompted my decision to return the product.

My wife used it once and was not happy. You can reposition your hand to not rest on the button, but then the handset becomes uncomfortable to hold after a few minutes. I like the fact that the phone number database (Directory) is in the base unit and available to all handsets. You only need to store the numbers once and not in each handset like my old system. The larger letters on the display and on the keypad are a plus as I don't have to put on my glasses to dial or read the Caller ID. I have not had it long enough to evaluate the battery life or range, but the new technology should be better in both areas.

My old cordless phones had the volume control on the keypad and was never an issue when using the phone. Appears to be of good quality. This button needs to be relocated somewhere else. Just received this phone system and have used it only a couple of times. The constant fading in and out of the other person's dialog is very annoying and makes it difficult to understand the conversation at times. In other words, what happens is that the voice of the person you are talking to fades to a low volume when you talk, and when they talk, it takes a second or two for their voice to get back up to normal volume. When you talk, the phone seems to mute the voice of the person you are talking to.

Other than those two negatives, the 3-phone set seemed to be a good value for the money. Pros: Very easy to set up. Very annoying.

First is the volume contol button on the side of the phone. It wasn't a range issue as I was only 15 - 20 ft. Second is the reception voice quality.

It's going back. The answering system announcement and recorded messages seemed very clear.

Clear display, nice backlight. The button is very easy to push, so even a little movement of the phone or shifting your hand position a little results in the phone beeping away and the volume going up or down during use.

Highly recommend. This phone has all the features we want in a home phone, along with very clear sound and excellent reliability. The feature we like best is the speaker phone on each handset, as it allows the two of us to talk to our children wherever we are in the house. The phone also is stylish and easy to hold.

I have no static whatsoever, and I have a wireless network going in my house. Another annoyance is the inability to name your handsets, although since I don't use the intercom it not a big deal in my household. What I like the best about this is that no matter where I am in the house or in the yard, it sounds like I'm on a land line.

I've had these AT&T phones for a few months now and so far I have not been disappointed. I am not a person who is going to use all of the features of the phone, but for basic phone service, this definitely does good. I don't have caller ID, I don't use speed dial, and we don't use the intercom at all, so I won't be reviewing those features.

My biggest dislike, and what's keeping this from being a 5-star review, is that the phone is too skinny and it causes neck cramps when you try to hold it in between your ear and shoulder. The answering machine works as expected, no complaints there, although the clock is weird it asks for the year, but not the month or day, so when you play a message, the timestamp says, "2008 9:25 PM Saturday" which is just odd. Neighbors on all sides also have their own networks, and there's no interference at all.

I had to get a headset to deal with that (or use the speakerphone). I have one room in my house where reception with the old phone was impossible and the wireless network is horrible in there too, but the AT&T phone still sounds crystal clear there.

Programming was very fast and easy. The number pads are large, easy to see and use. So I found a lot of recommendations for the new AT&T cordless phones that are advertised as having the best range. Sounds like we're sitting next to each other.

But this new Panasonic system didn't have the required range, and there are no range extenders available in the USA. Lo and behold, this AT&T phone has the best range I've yet to see. This still uses the old proprietary batteries that are expensive to replace. People who used to complain about reception on my old Panasonic system love this new one.

My old Panasonic cordless phone system was all a person could ask for, but eventually it got old, weak and no longer did the job. One small thing: some new cordless are now using rechargeable AA batteries. They have been in use for less than a week, but so far no complaints. I replaced it with another Panasonic system that had all the latest features and looked great.

The phones are exceedingly good-looking with beautiful blue lighting, and they are quite comfortable in the hand. I purchased this AT&T system and returned the Panasonic system.

The ATT phone and answering machine are great. It is easy to install and use. I would recommend this highly. The phones are light and easy to use also. It is the best one we have owned.
