The stylish, compact LS400 speakers from AudioSource give you a powerful sound, inside or outside. The weather-resistant speakers are perfect for outdoor use in protected areas, such as a partially covered deck or patio. The metal grilles and solid construction make the LS400 speakers durable and attractive. The small size of the LS400 speakers makes them a great indoor sound source as well. Place them on a bookshelf or mount them to a wall and connect them to your stereo or home theater. Despite being small (8.5 x 6 x 6 inches, W x H x D), the LS400 speakers handle 100 watts per channel and feature a 4-inch reinforced polypropylene woofer and 3/4-inch polycarbonate tweeter. They're easy to hook up and can accommodate almost any kind of speaker wire connections. The speakers have gold-plated binding-post speaker terminals that ensure high-fidelity sound, and the terminals connect to banana-plug speaker cords or bare speaker wires, up to 14-gauge. I use these speakers above my hot tub and they seem to be holding up quite well.
The only issue is that the screen plates on the front have started to rust. I mounted them them outside under the eaves of my house. These speakers sound great and have held up well for almost five years now in humid South Florida. Even with the cheap plastic brackets that they came with for mounting, they have survived several hurricanes with no problem. I will eventually get around to popping them off, cleaning them, and spray painting them. Definitely worth the price. Considering what they have been through and how good they still sound, that is a minor negative, so five stars from my side.
A great value for the money. I couldn't be happier. The Audio Source LS400 speakers look good and sound super.
Enough power to play any music at good levels without waking the neighbors. I got this to go on the patio. No apparant distortion. I have pair of HUGE Sony SSF's in the living room and a stereo receiver is powering the Audiosource as speaker B's. Recommended.
Downside is the plastic bracket. Accepted a 14 AWG wire easily. The lows are a bit weak when compared to the floor standing Sonys (yeah this is an unfair comparison) but still pretty good. The highs are very pronounced and clear.
I move them in and out to listen by the pool. Very good for low price speakers in this situation. Durable and light.
