Audiovox VE705 Ultra Slim 7-Inch LCD Drop Down TV Reviews

The owners gladly took it back with no argument and promptly sent me a check. It's rare to find such great customer service. When the item came, it didn't fit in my kitchen. I will definintely do business with them again.

No problems with the order, was in fact pretty quick. Great TV for the price.

So for now we just use the remote to change to the other half of the channals (say i'm on channal 2 and i want to watch 48, I'd hit 44 on the remote and then channle up on the TV itself). My parents can only seem to get a few numbers to work on it. The biggest problem I have found is the remote.

I got this for my mother for her birthday to replace the one she had that was well over used. It is small and you have to have it at just the right angle to use it. The radio take a bit a playing with to get the staions to come in.

All in all the tv is better then the one we had so that all that really matters. The TV is self works well pic is good. When I tryed to buy an universal remote for it the fist one did work at all, the second i could get some of the bottens to work but you didn't do the right thing (i.e.

4 was channel up; menue right was 6, 8 was power).

I can highly recommend to buy from this seller. That is first class service. The remote did not work, but the seller immediately shipped a new one. Product arrived within days after order. It is very nice, just right for the purpose of having a TV in the kitchen that does not take up space. He even followed up to make sure, I received it and it worked properly.

Additionally, there seems to be a trend to incorporate trendy extras such as a CD/DVD or MP3 access. . I did notice when reading reviews that most complaints about Audiovox quality were sent by people who bought one of their tv's shortly after the unit was put on sale. This concern with reliability was an additional reason for looking for a set with the fewest bells & whistles. Why not off to one side. Well it's late October 2008 and the only problem was having to replace the battery in the remote (easily done).

in depth and after screwing on a right angle adapter (not supplied) for the cable connection we were unable to fit the set flush against the cabinet bottom, inside the front facing. The picture & sound are adequate to good - about what we expected. All the TV & FM controls work fine. I'll try to report back on reliability after one year. FM reception is surprisingly good with the dipole (included) we ran up to the top of the cabinet. deep cabinet (from inside the overlap of the cabinet face to the wall), as it happened the Audiovox 705 is a bit over 10.5 in.

Why not straight down. We quickly discovered that quality makers seem little interested in this market segment. So not perfect, but good enough. These considerations aside, we found the VE 705 to be a clean design with minimal height below the cabinet. We have rarely used the FM but between cooking shows and the presidential election the TV is on for a couple of hours every night. Installallation with the included wood screws was a breeze (the enclosed template was not really needed). But using the cleverly designed enclosed spacers we were able to mount it 1/8 behind the front face of our cabinet.

After a couple of weeks of use we are happy with it. Happily Amazon lets us edit reviews. Thus we settled on the Audiovox VE 705. All in all it is a huge improvement over our defunct GE Spacesaver. Audiovox, Phillips, GPX, Polaroid & the Target house brand had some potentially good choices but each drew critical reviews from users because of reliability issues. So far so (very) good. Sony makes one that received high quality and reliability ratings but is very expensive and somewhat oversized. In the kitchen, we are happy with access to news, weather, and a little bit more while cooking.

Though your site specs claim a depth of 10.2 and we hoped this would fit flush under our 11.25 in. When the GE 5 inch Spacesaver TV in our kitchen began to show tell-tale signs of expiring we actually looked forward to trading in its boxy shape and quirky controls for a set with a drop-down LCD screen and cable access.

Still, why they have the audio & video connections projecting out from the back of the unit is beyond me.

Manual a bit sparce but o.k. It just makes sense that the few who are stung by a product will want to warn off others who are considering the product but that the many who got roughly what they paid for will stay happily silent.

Main worry is, of course, reliability. Wish us luck.

Afters six months of daily use, this unit has performed flawlessly. I'm beginning to question the utility of user reviews from the perspective of product reliability.
