Bose® SoundDock® Portable digital music system - Gloss Black Reviews
It happened with both iPods. It started, played for a few seconds and then the iPod froze. I returned it. I tried to use it with two 3rd generation iPods but it didn't work. I bought this iPod player to replace another Bose iPod player that stopped working.
This product is "portable" and made for being carried from room to room without having to plug it in, or better yet, for superior quality outdoors; perhaps a picnic or camping trip. Battery Life is excellent if you do not choose to blast it as loud as it will go, and it will go quite loud. If your looking for something to fill an entire LARGE house, apartment, or room with sound, then either get the Bose 901's, or the Wave Radio/CD player (for apartments). There is one pre-set in my I-Touch that handles rock, pop etc. Yet, if you use the equalizer then you should not have any problems with sound. I am a long time Bose customer so I will address issues that I have heard about this player from other people.
Those towers fill my entire house with earth shattering sound. Another reviewer said the sound was bad, too much bass or some such thing. It is a Bose and more than capable of reproducing whatever sounds your settings are set for. I thought that was a non-helpful review.
As I listen to all types of music, I must do it often. If you want something you dock and charge your I-pods with while your at the beach, camping, in the backyard, or just taking a shower. The manual said it lasts approximately 3 hours listening at full volume, but I have not yet had it run out of battery, or need to be recharged during many hours of playback at a reasonable volume (I am not 20 anymore, perhaps that has something to do with it). You must adjust the equalizer through the players setting options, not the device (speakers). without having to change it much, but classical needs and adjustment. We used it outside one night for 6 hours easy without the battery giving me any problems or needing to be plugged in. I use mine with the I-Touch.
I am waiting for the prices to go down to purchase an extra battery, just in case. I use it in my kitchen or take it in the bathroom with me for showers. Does it have the same "ummph" as my 18 year old big, bold, Bose Towers. Others here have given you the technical information so I will give you just an "experience" opinion. No, it does not.
I do wish it had it's own equalizer as I detest the preset choices that I must scroll through for each type of music that I listen to. We also use it outside in the backyard when we have the chiminea roaring. It does indeed give me the same sweet, full, sounds as my other Bose products. this is it. Electricity issues. that have their own equalizer built into them. I have not noticed any change what-so-ever in my electricity bill.
Add a nice glass of wine and some Mozart and life is wonderful. You must remember that this unit is made for I-touch and I-phones etc. I love this little docking station and fully recommend it; so long as you are buying it for what it was designed for. Some people claim that they are not happy with the sound quality of this product.
Incredible. I received one for Christmas last year (2007) and have used it extensively. The battery has lasted over 4 hours at a time with the volume pretty loud.
It even provided background music for a party of 100 people in a huge party room. Well worth the money. People could not believe the sound was coming from this small thing.
The quality and sound of the music is untouchable. And I have not had a single problem. I have used it with 3 different ipods (2 different nanos, classic 80 gb, and ipod touch) and all work just fine.
When listening to Beethoven tonite, it's like the orchestra is in the same room as you are. I bought my first Bose speakers about 20 years ago. Bottom line this is the ROLLS ROYCE of sound docks. If you were to keep this unit for 3 years, you will have paid 36 cents a day for enjoyment that is totally priceless. I am already used to it. YES, you will undoubtedly feel some pain in your pocketbook when you buy this product. I tried another brand but had to return it. I am not surprised at the quality of sound.
I got this portable iPod dock unit today. Nothing else can compare. The best sound to ever come out of an iPod sound dock system. The full-bodied sound quality is so unique it simply cannot be paralled nor questioned. It is very expensive but the enjoyment you will get out of it will last through many years and for that alone, it is worth paying the extra $$$. I come from a family of Bose users.
I picked up one of these for the bedroom. Trust me- You will not believe the sound from this thing, and since it's portable you can now bring it anywhere- party on the patio or roof, other rooms, just outside the bathroom door while you shower (it's probably not moisture-proof)., on business trips, in a dorm room, etc. It really shines when hooked up to a 3G iPhone. They have some kind of anti-vibration technology going on so even at loud volumes and with lots of bass, the unit doesn't vibrate at all. It is not cheap but you are certainly getting what you are paying for with this device. I just wish the remote could send forward-track messages to applications other than the built in iPod software player. Knock Bose all you want, they still have some smart people there. You not only get remote-control access to your iTunes songs on the iPhone, or over wifi/3G, you get fantastic sound from music generation or streaming apps such as Easy Relax (free configurable ambient noise generator, fantastic to sleep to), last.fm (the "recommended radio" feature is excellent), Pandora, the built-in alarms, incoming phone call rings, and other application sources of sound.
