Brother MFC-465cn Color Inkjet Multi-Function Center with Networking Reviews
I bought this printer for its networking capabilities. At least that way it works on ONE of my computers. After I wasted many hours on the project I just gave up and hooked it up via USB. However I found that configuring this printer for my home network to be a nightmare.
You will be disappointed in this printer. 2) general misfeeding of paper. For a printer with so many features it should have a software feature for printing duplex (telling you how to put the paper back in).but don't waste your time figuring it out on your own since the printer will simply double-feed pages and ruin your attempts at saving paper anyways. 3) often feeds multiple pages at a time (making duplex printing nearly impossible since it constantly turns out wrong). 1) constant jams (when picture printing).
The most annoying thing is its inability to do really basic things. It promises much but delivers poorly. Biggest problems:. In summary, there are many great features offered by this printer, but what good are all the fancy bells and whistles when it can't do the simple stuff properly.
This is a pretty big deal if you have to print out a report and you dont have time to go buy another $30 ink cartridge. This printer maybe fine for some. Frankly the LCD screen is nice, but id rather see the pictures on the computer screen anyway. But for me I always found myself dissapointed with it. I tried setting the page options to black and white.
I didnt see an option on the printer to print in black and white. They would rather sell you more ink, then worry about whether you are able to print out what you need to. But it does have a lot of neat features, but for me if you sacrafice the basics, then those neat features are just not worth it. It just refused to print. Also from what I can tell if you are out of one of the colors it will not print with the other colors (for me it was mageneta and I wanted to print in black and white and there was black ink left but it wouldnt print out anyway). I mean please. For some reason, some days it will just set back to its original name instead of the name that I gave it. Finally there is no way the numbers they have on speed are anywhere near correct.
Just be honest. Well yeah it will work with your wireless network if it is wired in. The reason why this printer is cheap is because it sacraficed the basics. Well it is difficult to remember the long default name of the printer. Also using it as a networked printer is a pain. It is a slow printer and it take a long time for it to warm up and print the first page. I bought it at circuit city and it said 'Works with your wireless or wired network'. On principal this offends me greatly.
There are quite a number of options to choose from when printing, and the options are all very straightforward. Good luck choosing. Not only does it have many of the same advanced features of other (more expensive) all-in-one printers on the market today, it is designed so much more ergonomically. From the built-in network connection slot to connect straight into your router, to the paper feeder that is actually within the machine (like an expensive laser printer), it has a high amount of functionality, and functions pretty quickly. According to what I have heard, that ink for this printer is also on the less-expensive side, which only adds to the advantages. To be blatantly honest, this is probably the best printer I have ever brought.
I'm happy with the quality of the prints as well. I was apprehensive that some electronics that do more than one function don't operate properly after a few uses. Being wireless is an added plus as I can print from my notebook (laptop) from anywhere in the house or even outside on the porch. It takes less room than it would if one had a separate piece for each function, so that's a big plus for me. This is another great product made by a manufacturer that I have always trusted. However, after using this printer extensively over the past month, I am very pleased with every function it performs.
