I'm going to get another Brother the MFC 465cn which received much higher reviews without any complaints about paper jams and ink. I definitely got my money's worth but I also got lots of aggravation with paper jams. This machine seems to use a disproportionate amount of ink.
I like the automatic document feeder. I use the machine mostly for network printing, faxing (in & out) multiple pages, & copying. Easy network installation; just follow simple instructions. Although I don't do a lot of scanning, a flat-bed is best. This one requires taking out the paper stack & adjusting the track, then re-inserting the paper stack when finished. Liked my MFC-5440CN so much I bought this one next. There could be a simpler way to address individual envelopes.
I needed this multi-function printer for the wired ethernet. I would definitely recommend this printer. Either way, its a very good printer and much better than the 560cn I had before this one. It is quick to start printing and the color is very good. I must have gotten a great deal on this printer, because after I received it, Amazon's price was higher than what I paid Amazon for it. I believe there are printers with WIFI built in, but not in this price range.
this machine will be my last one. importing pictures from a camera card should be easy to do, but are cludgy and sometimes impossible. ink cartridges run out WAY too fast, even when printing in only black. up until i bought this printer i was a big fan of brother printers. the online manuals are confusing and hard to read, although the internet manuals are better. my recommendation is to not buy this POS. cartridges indicate they are empty even when there is still ink in them. print quality is below average.
in general the device is really good, the main problem is that many time sit just won't print, due to configuration problems with Vista os.
