To reset the toner (if you know there's ample amount of toner still left), unscrew the two screws on the side, pop off the side cover, and turn the gray gear wheal counterclockwise 90 degrees. Yes, these Brother toners do only count the number of pages printed to determine the amount of toner left. www.uni-kit.com/pdf/tonerrefillinstructions.pdf. Highly recommend. When one of the CMY color runs out, they all run out at the same time. Overall, these toners are fantastic. Even though the printer may say its completely out of toner, that might not be the case always.
We print about 100 color pages a day, 5 days a week. The original toner that came with the printer lasted longer. Odd. This cartridge lasted exactly one month for our office. Figure it lasted only 2000 pages or so.
Canon must have something going on with the cartridge cost. My toner usage in 6 months is exceeding my toner usage the entire year previously with an older HP model yet my print requirement is the same. Is it possible then that all the color toner cartridges run out at the same time. When you use the printer regularly and all your High Yield cartridges run out of toner at the same time, you will begin to question why. I don't print the same things over and over nor do I print things that have the same color requirements. The cartridge is suppose to get 4,000 pages @ 5% coverage on letter size paper. Is this why the printer was so reasonably priced.
It's just a toner cartridge after all. Well what can I say. Buy one if yours runs out. The printer itself was easy to install the toner into. Buying all three at the same time didn't save any money, so no 5 star since you don't get any discount. Amazon sent me a mssg asking me to review. The printer is great and the copies look perfect every time.
