Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood Reviews

unless you dont care. More fun times to kill Panzer tanks. New abilities like magically recieving ammo from your squad, and talking to them by pressing 'X' have been added. And instead of creating bakersdozen as your profile name to recieve cheats, you should enter '2ndsquad' instead, same cheats. A few new weapons have been added, the M3 Grease gun, and the FG42, WOW BIG DEAL. You guys act like the guys in Hill 30, swearing, arguing, and just talking. I didn't notice much difference in those fields.

the cover is a helmet. Well, everything such as graphics, sound, and gameplay is pretty much the SAME. Earned in Blood, not Brothers in Arms 2, just Road to Hill 30 and beyond. A new mode, 'Skirmish' has been added, its just 5 levels of different objectives to choose from, I found it similar to multiplayer, except longer, you can also co-op in Skirmish. It definatly earns the M rating because it has all the blood, violence, and curse words from Hill 30. as Sergeant/Corporal Joe 'Red' Hartsock. There are a few new vehicles in Earned in Blood, and there is some more variety given theres Urban combat, a wasteland of rumble where you experience 'closer combat' and get to take out some tanks on the way.

Instead of the 'briefing' of every level being a sort of narration by the main character, its become aa SLA Marshall interviewing Hartsock, not as interesting, but a bit more informative than Bakers telling. And sometimes they give you a stash of panzerfausts to take out several PANZER TANKS. The game is just as hard as Road to Hill 30, unless you found it easy, but its not as long, its got more scenes where your just watching. Some of the old characters come back, while your squad is a bunch of guys you didnt meet in RTH-30. Everything feels the same, just some new goodies added, and this time. The FG42 is fun to use, the M3 is boring, except you only use them in a few levels of the campaign.

i also play paintball which is the closest thing to war you can get and this game is the closest thing to real life plus its an awsome story line because it says its a true WWII story I love shooter games mostly WWII games.

Of course I still haven't seen AI in a commercial game yet that matched up to what I saw undergrad programmers doing in college during the 80s. If this is the latest in realism then it shows what a sorry state the gaming industry really is in. Barrels and crates don't blow up or even move when hit by a tank. 4. You cannot open doors or windows. By the way, I am both a veteran and an experienced programmer and I am highly disappointed with this game on both counts. Really stupid scenario designs.

2. There is a reason for the open sights on fast action weapons like the Thompson and other SMG weapons. You cannot go under a normal barbed wire fence, which thousands of hunters do several times a day in america. 3. This game is not the authentic real life war on-the-battlefield war game that all the geeks are hyping and signing the party line the company puts out. Making this worse of course are the level designs that force you to follow a relatively linear and restricted path to said anti-tank weapons. This is completely ridiculous.

In real life I would have put a round through both ears of my target. Lastly the much hyped authentic tactics. You cannot use the wire cutters that every paratroop carried. Only in EIB do you get to even blow holes in the hedges with the TNT that all paratroops carried as part of their standard pack during that theater of operations, and then only in key places and one whole scenario.

You know, the stuff they teach everyone in BASIC TRAINING. We deserve better and it's not that hard to do. 5. Give me a break. The gunsights are ludicrous.

You can observe how the enemy becomes magically aware of things completely out of the blue, such as someone being behind them, not moving or firing, and behind cover. 1.Ludicrous restriction on the tactical options available to the soldiers and the squad leaders. 8. It's not even as good as a raw topo map dump.

There are several instances where you are put face to face with tanks and no tactical options except to run for enemy panzerfausts. The amount of creep even in a crouching position is ridiculous. Ridiculous limitations on interaction with the environments. You know, I am sick of all the hype about this game by a bunch of weenies that don't seem to know real combat, real weapons or realism of any sort beyond what they see on their TV screens. Terrible path blocking and object collision detection.

You cannot climb fences. 6. Absurd size of the weapons relative to your field of vision when zoomed in. You are chained to camera angles around key points and there are no indications of any significant type for changes in elevation and quite often the terrain features are faded out due to the choices made for the camera angle. Quite a few times when I had a perfect view of a target and as perfect a sight picture as you would ever want I could not hit the target no matter how many rounds I fired. Too many places you cannot go or step when you should be able to.

Places you cannot jump over or crawl under where you should. This is supposed to substitute for the advance study done by the troops. Sure the maps are close, the look and sounds of the weapons are close and even the dialog is about right, but that is about as far as it goes. Perhaps most unforgivable of all, you cannot go into a prone position or crawl. 7.

I bought two of these games after reading the reviews and I have to say that you people don't know what you are talking about. Oh, one PS. Some of this is bad level design, some of it is probably trying to make up for the limitations of their AI, and some of it is just plain dumb. There is pseudo-realism and that is about it.

10. 9. It's time we stopped allowing these companies to hype this stuff up like it is so great when it's all fluff like pretty pictures and sound. Authentic, sure, in a very introductory and watered down way, severely limited in permutations, applications and variations due to all the other limitations of the game. You can't even climb over a low wall that some other men just went over. These games fall down severely on the accuracy/authenticity in several key areas. Poor level designs. Situational awareness mode.

Another limiting factor is that you cannot issue movement commands to a location you know is there but are not lined up on directly yourself and you had better be on the side away from the enemy when you issue the order. Come on folks this is ridiculously UN-authentic. This could have been easily fixed by using some option to issue commands while in situational mode, especially if that were better done. If I was that shakey I'd head for the retirement home. This is inexcusable. The AI cheats.

AI is pretty good and the game is more difficult comparatively than Halo. with shooters, I only play split-screen Co-op games with a friend - stuff like Halo and Wolfenstein. You each command a 3-man team. This game has a mode that lets you pick 1 of 5 maps, choose your difficulty level and whether you want to be the good or bad guys. Definitely worth 20 bucks. The maps are pretty varied and fun.

The graphics are not all that great however its cool that you can play on either side of the countries. This game was a little predictable but was good for two player action.
