Cabelas Alaskan Adventure Reviews

This is a good program for that "hunter" who wants to experience the thrill of the hunt from the comfort of home.

This is the most challenging out of the 3 Cabela's hunting games that I have. This is hunting in it's most primal form. Having to fend off wild animals, buy your supplies at the outpost and judge your meal rations, ammo, and other supplies is good. This game is a lot of fun and can be played for hrs at a time if you like hunting games.

I have had this game for quite some time.(I didnt buy it on Amazon.com, I got it at Wal-Mart on sale for 19.99 which is a good price for this game)This game is one of the best games Ive played. The overall experience was very good, but the graphics could use some improvement, just a little. The guns and bows are cool and I love this game. The fishing is great but I wish there was never a time limit though. But why 4 stars not 5? Well this game lost a star because of the animals. They are just waaaaay too dangerous. For exapmle, there are animals in real life would avoid you at all costs, but in this game the will plow you and not think twice or even try to determine if you're a threat or not. "Charge first never invesigate" that seems to be the only thing on thier minds. If cabelas would have only given you the option if you wanted animals to attack or not this would be the best hunting/fishing game made. Another good thing about the game is the selling back to the store, because you get a 100% refund. I like it. You should rent first in case you don't like it, which you will like it.

With 38 wild and dangerous animals to slaughter, this game has something for everyone. You start simply enough - by stamping on several Pygmy Shrews - before moving quickly on to fishing for Salmon with frag grenades. This is followed by a particularly bloody adventure in which, armed with an AK47 and a wooden club, you take on a family of Polar Bears before the game climaxes in an awesome Humpback harpooning, extra points are awarded for getting her calf.

Once you have completed the basic adventures you gain access to the secret 'Governor Game'. Here you are challenged to dismiss as many state employees as possible on spurious grounds via your secret email account, whilst simultaneously protecting your gas pipeline by shooting wolves and stray Democrats from a circling helicopter.

I have not yet finished the 'Bridge to Nowhere' mini-game mainly because it is not clear whether you are supposed to be supporter or an opponent. Any ideas, fellow gamers?

We couldn't wait to get home with this game and pop it into the PS2. None of us were too impressed (there was me, 33 yo female, a 15 yo female, 9 yo male, and 4 yo male). We all played it for about 15 minutes each then decided to go swimming instead...it was a lot less frustrating. The graphics are ok but it's tricky to figure out how to move your guy around. It's like watching paint dry to hunt out your animals then once they are in sight, they come at you with a vengeance. Any shot at all that hits the animal is highly praised, which is good for the kiddos. When you're first gearing up, you pick a player and have about a thousand options as to how to customize him/her...a completely useless waste of time...all you ever see is the hand and the gun anyway, so who the heck cares what they look like, what color the eyes are...etc??? Also, when my 15 yo niece was playing, she was doing the Cordova range, and she came upon a camp with a guy writhing around in pain...there was no mention at all in the manual as to what was supposed to be done (she actually tried to shoot the poor guy to put him out of his misery, but the game wouldn't allow it). It was so frustrating she had to start completely over. All in all, I probably wouldn't buy this game again, certainly not for this price.
