Cables To Go - 40324 - 3-Play Component Video Digital Audio Selector Reviews

This is an active switcher it takes power. I'm switching an AppleTV, Samsung Bluray player, and Hughes HD satellite PVR to an LG 32" desktop HD+DVI monitor. I returned them. They're part of the Retail Accessory Ripoff Conspiracy Plot, and I will no longer participate. My Mac's HDMI port feeds the monitor directly, and this switcher feeds the component+audio ports. The box ends up being suspended by the cables. The unit is a little on the light side, which is a problem when connected to an octopus of thick component video cables.

I put a brick on, but sometimes a product just needs a little dead weight bolted to the bottom. Accept nothing less. An HD switcher, it turns out, NEEDS power. I've tried both powered and unpowered switchers costing three times as much from Best Buy and Circuit City. The remote is handy, but almost too small. This unit is small, well built, and works perfectly.

Great product, works as described. Note: it is mainly meant for VIDEO, not audio. Use with an audio receiver for (you guessed it) audio, specifically digital audio. Very useful for using one component input (on TV), while attaching 3 component video sources to it.

Works very well. I use this product to switch between multiple component sources - directtv receiver, ps3 and dvd jukebox player.

- Being able to remote control it is pretty much essential for me since I have so many devices and use a Harmony to control it. I picked this device up because I needed a way to switch Toslink (optical audio) to my receiver, and I wanted something remote controllable. A few high points for me:. Since the PS3 doesn't need video, and the Wii doesn't need a TOSLink connection, they can both live on the same channel. - Depending on your setup, you may get more than 3 devices out of it. It's worked brilliantly for me.

though that's probably a waste). I'd recommend getting a replacement if you get it, as those are likely defective units. I have no personally experienced this, though. I've seen some reviews where people have complained of noise in the lines or voltage spikes switching audio. - You can use it as a generic RCA switcher (so if you want, you could actually use it to switch multiple RCA audio devices per channel, or to switch composite. I'm switching a cable box, an XBox 360, a Wii, and a PS3 on this.

This device was already in the Harmony database, no manual programming required.

I use it just for the Digital Audio. I have had no problems. It works very well.
