They were very cordial, unlike the jerks at Creative. I sent it back and received a new Megaworks system in exchange. It arrived in the box I had shipped it in (the box was undamaged) with no packing (I had packaged it very well with the original styrophome). Creative claimed that the subwoofer had been damaged in shipping and would not warranty it. A leg had been broken by being dropped on a sharp corner (although the shipping box was fine).
Obviously they had dropped it after opening my box and had refused to warranty it. So, I am out a heap of cash with nothing to show for it.UPDATE: Cambridge sent me a new sub for free after threatening legal action. I had to send it back to creative this time because my 90 day store return was up. They told me that they only replaced, and they could not replace a product damaged in shipping. I told them just to fix it, as their warranty stated (fix or replace).
I had them ship it back to me in the same box and packing they had received it in. After two months, the subwoofer started crackling along with all but one tweeter. I bought a Megaworks system and the subwoofer caught fire after three weeks.
Creative Labs is not offering any warranty coverage for me because I live in the Virgin Islands. Like I said, when it worked, it worked well. I loved it. The problem is it overheated after 45 minutes at 80% volume and the power supply fried. I am still trying to get resolution with them and if I do, I will happily give the system high marks. The sound and volume from this system is amazing. The power supply needs to be made external in order to disipate the huge amount of heat created by the power supply.
When I want to jam, they can play really loud - I live in a two bedroom condo and they sound great in my smaller space. My Sony VAIO notebook, Mini disk, DVD and CD player are connected to the Extigy.
A great buy from Amazon.com. Lots of audio software goodies included which are nice.
This is a great sounding speaker system that packs a lot of bass punch and clean highs. Straightforward instructions and all cabling made installation easy in about 20 minutes.
Surround sound is great on DVDs. The speakers are connected to my Creative Extigy external sound card via an included single digital cable (3-channel miniplug).
One allows users to select 2, 4, or 5.1 speaker mode.I never knew my MP3s could sound this good when played from my notebook's MusicMatch.
the bass is very powerful, and extremely detailed. if your looking for the best performance from a 5.1 system for the best price, this is the system for you. Ive only had my set for a few days, but i am very impressed by the performance of this system. The only problem is the that all the controls, except for the volume, are on the back of the sub. This set is ever bit as good as the klipsch promedia, and much more affordable. The satellites are very crisp and clear.
I just have 1 week to use it but is really oustanding performnace,Finally I found what I Was looking for too much time
