It was easy to understand the instructions. easy to get the camera in an out of the housing and best of all I felt very comfortable with my new camera on the beach with all the sand and saltwater. This is a wonderful product. I have yet to dive with it, but am looking forward to taking the camera worry-free underwater.
All of the controls are accessible except the control dial, but there is a two-button shortcut which bypasses the dial. It's always ready for a shot without having to pull it out of a case and put it back. It may be overkill for this purpose, but it serves as very solid protection banging around in the boat. I don't dive, but I take my camera in my kayak, where it always gets soaked. Expensive for a limited-purpose device, but I get shots no one else can.
Many due to "supposedly waterproof" platic pouches. No distortion. it videotaped the rapids. My friends' cameras were being slaughtered left & right. If you care about your camera and are going near the water, BUY THIS CASE. Thanks to this case, I never, ever had a worry.
including another guy's Canon G9. Basically, I watched 7 cameras die (out of 12). Some due to wind-storms. you don't deserve a G9. it spent the night in a sandstorm. I took it underneathe waterfalls. If you don't care enough to spend the extra $75 for this case (versus a generic product).
We were going down the Colorado river thru the Grand Canyon in 6-person, full-paddle rafts over the 4th of July holiday. I wanted to cry. Some due to damage on rocks. Perfect picture.
Now negatives. All the of the turquoise green buttons allow you to use almost every button and dial on the camera itself. I have always taken cameras on vacations as most of us do, but been very hesitant to take my camera near pools or ocean beaches because of water and sand. In shallow water the sunlight reflects on the housing making it somewhat difficult to see the viewfinder. Be sure and purchase the weights that go with the camera as others have stated. I got many looks from beach goers as I carried my little "aquarium" with me. Though I have a couple of negatives, I will say upfront, they are not reason not to buy it. It is a "cute" and colorful addition to my G-9.
I must say I loved it. I found myself many times just pointing at a fish and snapping photos without seeing exactly what I was shooting. BUY IT. It was difficult seeing the viewfinder while snorkeling. One of my friends said I had an "aquarium" for my camera. Not anymore. This little jewel performed lovely. I had the fun of being able to snorkel right on the beach at our resort where I could test this new little gadget.
It was fun to be able to carry my camera into the ocean and take photos of my kids IN the ocean with me, rather than me being on the beach away from them. I do wish that Canon made a lens cap for the housing lens, I found myself smudging it often with suntan lotioned fingers. I purchased this underwater housing two weeks ago, and traveled to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico last week. It does make it heavier out of water but easier while in water. If you want to take photos with your G-9 near or in water.BUY IT. I had as many blurry underwater pics as I had in-focus pics, but in the digital age, thats what the erase button is for. you will not regret it.
I never had any concern about dropping the camera in the river, or putting it down in the sand or on stone. This product was worth every penny. It is well built, and extremely durable. I purchased this case to protect my new Canon G 9 while fishing. If you have a Canon G 9 and use it in tough conditions, this case will give you the peace of mind to concentrate on your subjects and not the safety of your equipment. The pictures taken through the case are crystal clear.
