Canon Digital Rebel Kit with Case, 58mm UV Filter and LP-E5 Li-ion Battery for Canon XS, XSi and T1i Digital SLR Cameras
The XSi Starter Kit will make using your camera more pleasurable and productive. The kit includes the Canon 200-DG Digital Gadget Bag, an LP-E5 Battery Pack, and a 58mm UV Haze Protection Filter. The Gadget Bag can hold all of your camera accessories and up to 3 additional lenses; the additional LP-E5 Battery Pack provides more shooting power so you can take pictures longer; and the UV Haze Protection Filter fits most Canon Lenses and protects the front element of the lens from dirt and scratches while also correcting for Ultraviolet (UV) light which can produce a bluish cast in your images and obscure distant details.

Canon Digital Rebel Kit with Case, 58mm UV Filter and LP-E5 Li-ion Battery for Canon XS, XSi and T1i Digital SLR Cameras Reviews
Being touted as a "Starter Kit" I believe this package may not be quite worth the money. I am not an experienced photographer - so I am indeed a "starter." I will review each item separately.
1. The Bag - It is nice, but it is HUGE! I knew this before I bought it, but it is still really big. This bag is so big that I am currently using it to carry my camera body, 1 lens, my regular camcorder, my Flip camcorder, extra mini-DV tapes, my camera instruction manual, mini tripod, extra battery, battery charger, camcorder battery charger... I think you get the idea. I will likely buy another smaller bag and use both.
2. The Extra Battery - It's an extra battery. The one I have seems to last a REALLY long time. I charged it on Saturday, took a hundred or so shots with it at an event. Took it out the next day on the golf course and took a few hundred more shots over a four hour period. The battery is still going strong. I don't think I need a back up battery at this point. Perhaps this would be more useful for someone who will use the camera to make a living or will be using it constantly for 8 hours a day. Not sure, but I haven't had to use mine yet.
3. Lens Filter - As a "starter" I have no idea how to review it. I got it, screwed it on my lens and there it sits. I have no idea how it impacts my shots. Supposedly it protects my lens. That seems like a good thing.
I think for someone just starting out you are probably better off just buying a bag and a lens filter separately. You probably don't need the extra battery (but hey... maybe you do). For me, I probably bought something I didn't really need. Maybe I will at a later time.
It's huge!!! Buy it if you have couple lenses cause it's huge for just the cam.
I bought this bag for my Canon Rebel XS camera. I have seen the same bag at another store for $120, so I decided to get it from Amazon. It's the perfect bag! well made, not too small, not too big. A lot of pockets for additional lenses, flash, battery and charger etc... It's a real value for the money considering that the battery itself sell for $40 and the filter another $14. I am very pleased with the bag and I would recommend to anyone.
This bag is very durable and roomy but not too bulky to carry comfortably. I love it! The extra battery pack and UV filter are necessities if you just purchased a Canon EOS Rebel SLR camera. The same bag/battery pack/filter combo at my local electronics store was 149.00. I was very happy with the price I paid on Amazon.com and delivery was very fast. I would recommend this item to anyone!
I actually paid $99 for mine yesterday at Office Depot. First let me state that if you're looking for a compact bag this IS NOT the one for you. We bought a Rebel XS and also the longer zoom lens. We needed a case that could hold the camera with that zoom lens on plus have a place to store it when not using it. Holsters were out of the question due to the extra lens. Most of the bags I found (that didnt cost a fortune) wouldnt fit the bill, there was always something about them that wouldnt work...beit size, way the camera sat inside, openings, etc. I came across this Canon Rebel bag and thought I'd try it since it was named after the camera I bought. I got it home and found it VERY spacious with a really nice default layout of the dividers inside (which are removable and changeable via their velcro). After fitting the two flapped dividers in the middle for my SLR I then realized I had four other areas left. I stuck in the extra lens, perfect fit. I then stuck my Sony HD Video camera lens-up in one of the other areas. Then I put my Sony Point-And-Shoot in one of the nice size side pockets. Added my batteries and memory cards and found that all my photographic devices all fit in this one bag and STILL had one area left that would be perfect for another lens ( but I used this one to stuff my strap down in which was convenient). I lifted the bag and it was not heavy at all which suprised me. The pad on the shoulder strap is REALLY nice and thick. The top closes via dual zipper or you can leave it unzipped and just use the plastic clasp for quick access. It has the waist strap ties but I doubt I'll never use them. The bottom has a hardened rubber part so you won't trash your bag no matter where you set it. OH and let me also say the extra battery it came with was a REAL plus, as was the UV lens filter which screwed on the end of my lens and perfectly accomodated my lens cap.
