Citizen DS999 Portable Color TV with AM/FM Radio and 2.2" STN LCD Screen

Lightweight and tiny, Citizen's DS999 portable LCD television with built-in FM/AM radio will happily accompany you on bus and train rides, to sporting events, and anywhere else you might need a little TV or music to liven your spirits or keep you informed.

The set uses a 2.2-inch color, anti-glare display with STN (SuperTwist Nematic) technology. STN displays aren't as bright as a backlit TFT display, but they're easier to read in daylight, an important feature in a portable TV. You get a minijack .125-inch audio/video input for using the set as a monitor for your camcorder or video game, a nice feature in a device this compact (3.3 x 1.9 x .2 inches W x H x D).

The set operates on AA batteries, AC/DC power adapter, or 12V DC car adapter (none supplied), and battery life is estimated at 3.5 hours for TV viewing.

Citizen DS999 Portable Color TV with AM/FM Radio and 2.2" STN LCD Screen Reviews

I really enjoy my little TV.I also have the 888 model from Citizen.they are very simialar although this one has a radio.I find the speaker a little to small and tinny but it's tolorable.I get really good reception on both the TV and the radio.A fun way to kill some time, when your on the go.

It also has an AM/FM radio. The picture is better than most of my larger TVs, and it's small enough to fit in a tote or briefcase. I would recommend this product highly. This is a great little TV.

I have 4 for my family. This works great.

This is the perfect size for a backpack or a purse. The sound quality is good and the ease of use and changing channels is simple.

The color is often too rich and the tint is not totaly acurate and varies too easily with reception. This is not a defect but rather a characteristic of the circuit design and certainly is no reason not to buy this set.If you are not too picky about an absolutely perfect picture on a pocket TV then this set will serve you well for years. Unless you are a perfectionist spoiled by the pure precision of Sony sets like I am, you will be very happy with this set. Its durability is almost in the class of the Sony Watchman, still the benchmark for miniature television. The flourescent backlight is located such that the brightness tends to be uneven leaving the top and bottom of the picture slightly dark with respect to the center. I also noticed that the tuner is sometimes slow to lock onto the nearest station when the set is first turned on. Performance, while certainly adequate for a portable TV has three major shortcomings.

The TV picture is bright with high contrast and reasonably sharp. 1. This set is worth buying for the TV-radio combination alone. 3. The AM band on the radio is not quite sensitive enough to reliably receive weak local stations. This truly pocket size tv is ruggedly costructed and stands up to being carried around quite well. 2.

The built in radio is a real plus that more manufacturers should consider offering.
