College Hoops 2K7 Reviews

As an avid basketball fan, this game will calm your craving until the season starts. i enjoy it. My only beef is a lot of passes are stolen but other then that I would purchase this game. I do enjoy this game.

For example, I was getting 25 steals a game. I have been a big fan of the College Hoops series for a few years now. I think this is their best yet. The gameplay is very fun. As that is completely unrealistic, I changed the ballhandling setting for the "Computer" about 10 pts higher. I also get called for reaching in a lot if I try to go for the steal on every play.

I now only get about 12 steals a game, on a pretty good day. Legacy mode is outstanding and deep, as well as very easy to navigate. If you like deep sports games with solid gameplay, this one is for you. The preset modes are a bit uneven, but the gameplay sliders make it so you can truly control the challenge of the game for your personal skillset.

IT IS A FUN GAME TO PLAY AND WOULD RECCOMEND IT TO ANYONE

almost EVERY pass ends up being stolen, i mean, there are like 50 turnovers every game, all because of the steal. A long pass cant be thrown without being stolen. not worth the money. well, i was wrong. i didnt purchase 2k6 last year, but this year i decided to pick up 2k7, having seen a duke player on the cover and thinking that the rosters contained actual college players. the players are all computer generated, which i dont mind as much as the gameplay. I dont know how to recruit and stuff, so it gets frustrating. and then the legacy mode is something that confused me.

The only true cons I found in this game (and 2k6 for that matter) were the inordinate amount of turnovers. The lower ratings are a direct result of there not being a significant difference between the 2k6 and 2k7 versions. Also there is a much larger online community for the 360 version. Even the create a player skins have not been updated in this year's version. First off I'd like to address the people that currently have College Hoops 2k6 and are unsure whether they want to purchase 2k7.

You can adjust sliders that do help remedy the situation. Steals are far too easy and turnovers from intercepted passes occur far too often for a game that prides itself on simulation over arcade like play style. Second, if you are unsure whether you want this version or the 360 version I'll try to enumerate the differences. I didn't explore every available facet of 2k6 but the game modes and options that I do use were all exact carbon copies of their 2k6 counterparts. You still purchase the same pennants, jerseys, trophies, and mascots. The team I use in legacy has the new first year coach just like in real life, but unlike real life this new coach (whose record should be 0 - 0 ) has a record that is the same as the old coach's previous season.

The only notable difference was the color they chose for the in game menu, the music, and menu splash screens. A minor foible, but something I noticed nonetheless. I have found passes get intercepted close to 50% of the time when passing up court where you cannot see your teammate (fast break situations). If you have 2k6 you are better off sticking with it. The graphics on the 360 are obviously going to be better so I'll try to focus on the main differences with respect the options that are available on the 360 version that are absent from the original x-box version.

If you look at reviews for both 2k6 and 2k7 on major game ranking web sites you will notice that the 2k7 is uniformly rated below 2k6. I also noticed some other minor things that really don't detract from the actual gameplay.

If you have neither rest assured that 2k7 is the correct choice. Yes, it is that similar.

The only things you will get are updated rosters, a few new school fight songs, and very slight tweaking in what are now the default slider settings. If you do not own College Hoops 2k6 then the choice is much easier.

You have to decide for yourself if these things are worth the extra $40 price differential between the 360 and x-box versions. This is simply the best college basketball game available on the x-box.

On the 360 you can create your own chants, there are confidence and team unity meters, a recap show of big games that were played during the week and big games that are coming up, and there is a feature called hoopcast which allows you to control certain aspects of a simulated game.
