Call the Customer Service line. I give this product 4/5 stars because it wasn't ready to register right out of the box. Wait 15 minutes. Much to my surprise they were actually helpful. So I called Thomson customer service, not really expecting very much (I even had the Amazon return policy on my computer while on the phone).
6. This worked for me, I hope this is helpful for you. Now reassmble in the reverse order (ie. 1. 2. Remove the batteries from the extension. Reinstall the batteries, etc).
The phone performs exceptionally well and I would give it 5 stars otherwise. If you have the same problem this is all you have to do:. Follow the directions to register the extension phone. I see several reviews where the phone couldn't register with the base and I was lucky enough to have the same problem. 4. 3. Unplug the phone line to the base phone.
5. Unplug the power to the base phone. I did what they told me to do and it worked. Make sure to do these steps in order.
Now I don't have to run down to the master phone or dig out my phone book when I need to make a call. I admit I was initially a little concerned about the compatibility and performance. Highly recommended. The set up took maybe a minute and the phone has worked flawlessly, despite being located in the exact opposite end of our house (it's nice not needing to add a phone line to the room too). I needn't have worried. The fact that it has the same functionality (minus the answering machine) is an extra bonus. We purchased this handset about six months after purchasing the "master" phone.
I'm going to send it back. Four different adults read the instructions, and not one of them could get this handset to register with the base.
The instruction manual is one of the most ridiculous I've ever encountered. In terms of esthetics, it has a very nice appearance. I like many of the features but the intercom is my favorite: it has reduced my yelling instructions across the house to the kids. Also, because it takes a little extra effort, my kids fail to put it back so then a phone hunt is necessary. Instead of being a booklet, it's a HUGE piece of paper that completely covered my kitchen table. My only complaint is that the base is so light that when you attempt to place the phone back in it, it falls over.
It's a little irritating when you're in a hurry and can take a number of attempts before it connects. The search feature makes ALL the phones beep.not a great idea. You must hold the back of the base unit in order to reconnect the phone. I purchased three of these phones to add to the wall unit I have in my kitchen.
For the price, this is the best buy I have found in a add on cordless phone system with answering machine. I bought this product and am really impressed with the quality and functions of it.
