Creative Labs Broadxent V.92 PCI Data Fax Voice Modem (Internal DI3631) Reviews
Tried everything. Can't return it because it is not defective. Can't find a driver to work with Vista.
We use this modem to work with the fax program on our medical record system. I recommend it. The modem works effectively and consistently.
by far the best. If you want a Modem that is easy to install and use, this is the one. These Modems have no problems, they connect and bundle 3 times as fast as older V.90 Winmodems and have user features like "Modem on Hold" that make them a notch above the competition. I am in rural America with no access to any ISP except dial-up. One of the best PCI Internal Modems on the market today. hands down. I use 2 of these on Windows XP machine and MultiLink PPP for a combined speed of 98.5k to 106k making it possible to use most streaming music sites but not quite fast enough for streaming video.
No results. The README description was nothing like the drivers. I got the drivers on but if I didn't push the reset button it would probably still be stuck in freeze mode. I couldn't get the connection speed above 19200.
I didn't bother trying to install them. No higher. I had to look long & hard for the model I had, but I eventually found it. Then, I tried their email tech support, figuring I had nothing else to lose.
Get ready for a return, Amazon. Oh, they responded the very next day and asked me to do a check on my system configuration, which I did, but after I responded, that was the last I heard from them. I wasn't expecting broadband, but I at least wanted to get maybe another kbps. With download speeds at a pathetic 2.0 kbps, I was beginning to think I regressed back to my old 486-14.4 days. I run Windows Me, and I realize it is not the most stable of OS's but if the System Requirements say it should run on Win Me it should run on Win Me. Most of the companies I've dealt with don't even respond once, let alone actually solve your problems.
I'm not exactly a computer beginner and I tried everything that I could get from the software. I didn't want to make the situation worse. Also, As one of the other posters said, the software freezes in the middle of the installation. I don't even know if they WERE drivers. I'll never buy anything by Creative again. I can even listen to a sound file while I'm downloading it (which I could never do before).
Mistake again. I bought this modem to replace a 6 year old Conexent to see if I could pick up a little more speed. Connect speed at 19200. No matter if the speed was set at 57000 or 115200. This is why I despise email tech support. But I DID get results by taking this failure out and replacing it with a US Robotics 5699B.
From now on I'll trust US Robotics. Boy, what a LETDOWN. Then I checked out the website for driver updates. I know there is more negative feedback about the USR modem than there is positive on that product's site, but I was lucky with it. I connected at 37333 kbps and my download speeds are 4.0 (at least).
This modem is great. replaced a US Robotics 5699B which was hanging up and dropping connection. Also, the Netwaiting software, which pops up to show you who is calling and let's you decide if you want to take the call or keep surfing, keeps a record of the numbers that have called you. This one holds a solid connection without a hickup.
