I was happy with this camera and creative products in general until I tried to install it on a vista machine. That's when I found that creative does not support it's products. I would never buy another creative product again.
It has to be repositioned because it slides and will not stay in "placed position". But for laptop, it is an issue that needs to be realized before purchasing. I did purchase a USB extension and placed the cam on a nearby flat surface, which addressed the problem and now it serves my purpose for chatting, or other purposes. However it is not secure to position atop a screen of a laptop as it was advertised. This is a good cam as far as images, ease of use, and easily installed on computer. It works beautifully on my desktop, without the problem of positioning.
At first it we did not know how to set it up but one it was done it correctly it works great.
I bought this webcam and well i liked it but only on the daylight with my windows opened all the way sometimes i had my light on and you werent able to see clearly picture quality isnt the best and if you have a regular monitor not a flat one it will keep on falling down from the top also the two claws from the front fell off. Go and buy a better webcam than this. it is real sensitive and not worth it i would recommend it to a kid probably.
If you are planning to get a webcam for personal use, better try a Logitech: the price is similar, but the picture quality is far superior. The headset is easy to use and the audio quality is very good. Apparently, I cannot use them simultaneously. However, the webcam is crappy and gives very blurry pictures. I also own a Logitech webcam for work and it is surprising to note that there is a mismatch between the software compatibility of the two webcams. I purchased the Creative Webcam Instant w/Free Headset as a special Thanksgiving sale from amazon. As a result, I use only the Creative headset for voice chats and have stopped using its webcam.
