The Creative Zen Stone is one of the smallest and most economical MP3 players you'll find anywhere. Compact enough to fit into almost any pocket and weighing less than an ounce, this featherweight player can be worn comfortably around your neck or on your arm while you're traveling or working out. With a capacity of 1 GB, the Stone holds about 250 songs, or 16 hours of music, in MP3 format (or 500 songs in WMA format). In addition, the player's convenient plug-and-play capabilities mean that you can simply connect the player to your PC--the player is only compatible with Windows XP or Vista operating systems--and drag-and-drop your music and data files between player and your computer without the need for special drivers.

I will not recommend this product at all. My wife bought this to our son in the USA on holidays. Since we live in Europe, we could not get a replacement product. The Creative support came with suggestions on how to fix it, but noting worked. It stopped working after a week.
I bought a keychain case for it, so I just clip it to my jacket and I'm good to go. I bought this mp3 player to take with me when I'm snowboarding - it's cheap, durable, and I don't miss having a display, since it usually doesn't work well in cold weather anyway. The Stone only has basic controls, but I don't really need a whole lot more than next/back/on/off/vol up/vol down when I'm on the hill. Also - if you can, encode in WMA and you'll be able to get a LOT of songs on it. If anything were to happen to it, it's inexpensive enough that I could just go out and grab a new one.
My Zen has been a great purchase and one I highly recommend. It's very easy to recharge by hooking it to a USB port on your computer, but if you're planning on taking it on vacation, I'd suggest purchasing the power adapter also made by Creative. It will charge your Zen quicker and is able to be plugged into any electrical outlet. The Creative Zen Stone is a great mp3 player; it's easy to download music to it, is lightweight enough to carry anywhere, and for a small gadget it has terrific sound.
What a great idea. But, Ipod's are a little expensive for a 7 year old boy, so we figured we'd try him out on a Zen by creative. With his brothers and sisters having Ipod's, our 7 year old kept asking for an Ipod too. Plus, it teaches him to build up responsiblity for the day he gets a bigger MP3 like and Ipod.
It was one of my better ideas. It's small, easy to work and at 7 he's not to concerned about seeing what he's playing. He just wants to listen to his favorite songs while he's doing homework, riding in the car, or someplace that's boring to him. Listening to his music keeps him happy and QUIET when we are traveling or waiting somewhere.

This is a great product for a basic, first mp3 player for a child (or adult). Since it doesn't cost much, it can easily & cheaply be replaced if the kids break or lose it.
