Creative Zen X-Fi 32 GB Video MP3 Player with Wireless LAN and Built-In Speaker (Black/Silver) Reviews

So there is a lot of MP3 players out there and I just about owned them all and this is by far the best out there. The ipod doesn't come close to the sound quality or the features that this player has. The profesional grade headphones are a definite plus. The X-Fi sound processor far surpasses all other players. Video quality is top notch as well. The only reason I didn't give it 10's across the board is that there is a learning curve to over come. At first it's difficult to navigate and figure out what buttons do what and transfering music and videos is not as easy as most player's but once you over come this feat, you will have no problems. It's all second nature to me now. Just be patient and play around with it. It's a highly advanced and more than capable player for the price. I highly recommend it.

First, an introduction: Some other reviewer touted his expertise, and I think I need to do the same to lend some credibility to my review. I've owned and used MP3 players since the very FIRST year they came out. And I've paid enormous prices for the initial Creative Labs players too. To that, I've owned every single iPod and apple TV that has come out (I buy and sell them). I am a SUPREME power user with a music library of 162GB, and a 9 terabyte video library. I know what I'm talking about.

That said, and WITHOUT repeating other reviews, I'd agree with all the positive reviews of this player :) and only add the one major detriment to any creative labs player is that they do NOT last. Every single one I've bought has been outlived by apple's counterparts.

I am not dissing creative labs mind you, just stating they are more cheaply made (hence they are cheaper to purchase) and hence they are not as durable. Bear that in mind!

iPods are the standard for a reason, and those standards should be the criteria you use to judge this player. As I said, this unit is a pretty good deal for the money. Just be sure to really baby it!

The Zen X-Fi is a sharp looking mp3 player but the software makes it frustrating to use. It is near impossible to remove content from the player once it is on. I deleted songs and play lists from the player and computer only to have them mysteriously reappear the next time the player was turned on. As much as I hate to say this, I suggest buy an Apple.

This player worked pretty well for less than two years and then completely died. Creative offered no suggestions except that I buy a new player from them. That is not going to happen.

Also, I should say, the Creative Centrale software it comes with is horrendous. Oh, and the SD card doesn't integrate with the library of music stored on the player. Oh, and they stop updating the firmware when a new model comes out. Oh, and it crashes with some frequency. And those nine buttons are ridiculously difficult to use if you're not looking at the player.

The sound is great, though. That's the one and only reason I'd recommend this player. Sadly, it doesn't outweigh it's faults. Not even close.

Great unit, I buy from Creative Labs because they have a bookmark feature that allows you to mark your place when listening to an audio book to pick up where you left off. the screen is great also not too big not too small and it fits in a shirt pocket comfortably. my zen V-plus lived for four years and a ton of recharges it finally just died but I would buy another in a heartbeat.
