Then your wait is over because the girls of Dead or Alive are back and better than ever in the first ever "Sports Fantasy Simulation", Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball for the Xbox video game console. Developed by Team Ninja, the guys who brought you the million-selling Dead or Alive 3 fighting game, Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball is sure to have your heart-racing with beautifully rendered graphics and action-packed game play. The extreme action is transported from the fighting ring of Dead or Alive 3 to the beach this time around with the girls throwing on their bikinis to go head-to-head in the most outrageous beach volleyball game you have ever seen! Its time to get physical with the ladies as they set, spike, and kill their way to victory on the tropical beach resort, Zack Island. This is no ordinary beach volleyball game, the more points you receive on the court will enable you to customize your characters with over 100 swimsuits and accessories to choose from. At night, Zack Island becomes a haven for nightlife activities including an island casino, a movie theatre, and a radio station with all your favorite sand and surf tunes. * Meet the latest Dead or Alive character: Lisa is a former Olympic volleyball player that hails from the United States and works as a stockbroker in Manhattan.

The successful Dead Or Alive fighting game franchise is known as much for the bouncing breasts of the female combatants as for its innovative and consistently fun three dimensional gameplay. Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball is a spinoff game that entirely drops the fighting game elements in favor of focusing on DoA's other claim to fame.

The game begins with you selecting one of the girls as your character. Each game is broken up into a two week vacation, and each day is divided into morning, daytime, and evening. You spend each segment of the day playing volleyball, gambling in the casino, shopping for swimsuits and accessories, lounging around the island, or trying to befriend the other girls on the island.

I'm not sure it's fair to classify DoA:XBV as a volleyball game. Sure, you'll spend a bit of time playing volleyball, but the gameplay is so basic that there are literally only two buttons: one to pass to your teammate and another to send the ball to the opposing side of the net. It's probably more accurate to label DoA:XBV as an unusual "relationship" game, with volleyball just one of several ways to earn money to spend on gifts for girls. Each girl has a set of items that they like; the actual object of the game is to figure out what those items are, where to buy them, and how to present them to each girl. Well-wooed girls will partner up with you for volleyball matches, or allow themselves to be convinced to try on slinkier and more exotic swimwear. For example: if you want Kasumi to try on the barely-there "Venus" swimsuit, you're going to have to shower her with gifts of strawberries, balloons, and origami.

What the game lacks in depth, volleyball gameplay, or features it makes up for in eye candy. The well-modeled, bouncy characters attract the most attention, but the island?s beaches and jungles are also universally gorgeous--and most of the volleyball courts can be played at different times of the day. If nothing else, Xtreme Beach Volleyball is a great display of the raw graphical power of the Xbox.

When considering whether or not you should purchase Dead Or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball it's important to remember what it is and what it is not. It is not a volleyball game. It is an incredibly pretty collection of small but moderately amusing mini-games played by buxom cartoon babes. Fans of Lara Croft, rejoice: the next generation is here. --Jon "Safety Monkey" Grover

Pros:

  • Fantastic graphics
  • Exotic tropical setting
  • If you ever wanted to see the girls of the Dead or Alive franchise run around in bikinis, here's your chance
Cons:
  • Volleyball portion of game is simple, not a lot of fun
  • Only supports two players--only then in Exhibition mode and not on the same team
  • More a collection of cut scenes than a real game
  • May make you feel dirty

Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball Reviews

Yet Zack talks about a secret shop. The graphics are great etc. So are the girls. So I know there must be a link to the cheat code screen. I did not find it in the book or on the game disk it's self. Thanks If anyone knows it please share it. What I want to know is how do you get to the link to enter a cheat code.

I also thought the casino part sucked but I don't really like gambling anyway. If you have to dive for the ball chances are that you'll still be getting up when it's hit back to you, and trying to get your partner to actually show some teamwork with you is nearly impossible. The game play is so inconsistent you'll be lucky if you can even serve the ball over the net let alone spike the ball without it hitting the net. When I think of a good volleyball game I think of "Kings Of The Beach" for NES.

I actually had the most fun playing the "Hopping" mini game, not because it was so fun, but more because I could actually win while playing. The scoring is not done right and you don't really have time to form relationships with your partner to get them to work better with you. On the plus side the girls are hot and seeing them in different swim suits is nice, but really I was looking for a "Volleyball" game, so I guess I'll just stick with my "Outlaw Volleyball" (which is a good game but still flawed), and bust out the NES to play "Kings Of The Beach" when I want to play a really good V-ball game. This game, if you really want to call it that, is really quite bad.

It's really quite sad that a game from 20 years ago on a 8 bit system blows away this 128 bit pile.

Though people who think I hate good clean fun are wrong, they're not totally wrong. This is one of those controversial games that parents absolutely despise, and that's one of the reasons I love this game. The graphics are still damn good, even after its release four years ago, the volleyball gameplay is still solid, the breast physics are still very noticeable(although not as noticeable as they are in DOAX 2 for Xbox 360), it's still a lot of fun to gamble(I love blackjack), and it's still fun to shop, recruit partners, do pool hop, relax, watch videos, get sent gifts, and it still has an excellent soundtrack to go along with its beach themes. Oh, and people who hate me for my review of The Bible Game; SHOVE IT. If you own DOAX 2 for the 360, and you have never played this game, you'll love it. I'll continue to enjoy my inappropriate games that are violent and sexual.

The option that I really liked the best was being able to play your own music tracks by copying them onto the XBOX, instead of listening to the same old pop music already in the game. Other than that this game is a must for anybody even for females because of the girly things to do. Its not really considered a volleyball game with many things to do on the island. I have to admit that I really like the volleyball action, it can get intense after the first week of the two week vacation. Winning all that money at the end of a victory can be fun, going shopping when I'm not playing a match and buying presents to the other gals in the game. I didn't really like the casino to much because I lose alot of my hard earned money. This game was alot better than when I first bought it.

Some swimsuits are really cheap while some can be a bit expensive, there are also other things like nailpolish, food and stuff you can give the other girls. I thought collecting swimsuits was fun, a lot of swimsuits are really cute and some very beautiful (especially Mint Frappe). I usually don't like string, but the swimsuits with them had nice colors and looked really good, so I even collected them. Basically what you do is play volleyball, collect swimsuits and try give them to another girl. This game is suppose to be all eyecandy, but even as a girl I found the game fun and cute. I've spend about 30+ hours on this game.
