The Delphi SKYFi2 XM Satellite Radio Receiver and Car Kit includes the SkyFi2 XM satellite radio receiver and the Delphi SA10102 Vehicle Kit, for a ready-to-go, XM satellite radio automobile package. Delphi's XM SkyFi2 Radio Receiver offers convenient plug-and-play XM Satellite Radio reception for the car, home, or office, including the first-ever pause and replay functions for satellite radio. Now you can pause or replay up to 30 minutes of live XM programming, and the SkyFi2 continuously and automatically saves the last 30 minutes of programming, including programming from multiple XM channels. The sound is just fine, the features are actually very nice, the newer units don't have that much on the old SF2, especially if you set up in one place and leave it. Ok, the SkyFi2 is getting old, but it still works just fine. I purchased this for a friend, along with a home kit, and the signal repeater, all together, for less than most of the recivers alone. The display shows it's age with large pixel text, it's a bit bulky, it's thicker than it might appear in the photos, but if portability isn't a big issue for you, then this is a really cheap way to get XM for yourself.
The car kit comes with many mounting options to fit almost any application (temporary or permanent). In DIRECT TUNE mode you must turn the wheel one click to make it WAKE UP. However the remote control has UP/DOWN buttons that allow channel by channel navigation to be simple just like a tv remote. The second click will cause it to change the channel. This unit is easy to use.
This is really annoying when you want to go through the channels one at a time to discover new channels that you might like. The pause feature is great. I really like my skyfi2. It does not give you the option of changing the screen color, which makes a difference when you do allot of night driving. I do not really like the scroll wheel.
Easy set up. Works fantastic with built in fm transmiter, and XM radio what more can I say the best.
The new receiver was incapable of even being able to locate or load the signal in order to activate an additonal account with xm. I activated the device in town without difficulty but as soon as I moved it back to the mountains, no signal could be found. I already own a 4+ year old delphi roady that had no issues in this regard, but decided to get a second receiver so I would not have to transport the roady back and forth from my home to the mountains and it always received a great signal from the satellite. Purchased this satellite receiver to use at a vacation home in the mountains of southern california. NOT RECOMMENDED for anyone who needs good satellite reception in mountains. BE WARNED that xm customer service is not helpfull or forthcoming with issues related to placement of this receiver.
It does, but fades in and out and usually with a LOT of static, just like there was no antenna hooked up. (The old one was stolen)The old one would transmit thru the Fm modulator to my auto stereo perfectly. I don't like either of those methods. This new one must not have the same type of modulator, as it won't transmit to my auto stereo. It will work fine with the cassette adapter and the gizmo that you have to run out and put on the outside antenna. I like XM radio, but not the changes made to this SkyFi2 receiver. This was a replacement for the SkyFi2 I purchased about 3 years ago.
