Thanks for reading. It played the CD pretty well, though the sound was little low (even at the highest volume). The heart, to my disappointment, was not squishy. Though you can't fit a "real" heart in there, you could definitely fit keys or a Master Replicas Pirates of the Caribbean II Prop Replica Elizabeth Swann's Necklace. The BIG disappointment was that you have to plug it into an outlet.
I really enjoyed the "little" compartments to the side of the heart (inside the chest). I figured it would have the "heart-like" touch to it, but it's only plastic. I mean, it is beautifully designed to look very similar to the film version. That way I could carry this around, pretending to have the Dead Man's Chest. Being an obsessed, Pirate fan, I just *had* to have this chest.
Sure, it's not that $250 Pirates Chest from MasterReplicas, but it's still beautifully-crafted. So, anyway, this product is perfect for any Pirates fan, but its low-sound, none "squishy" heart, and cord will probably dampen their spirit. All it does is sit there, playing music that is only audible for a quiet party. Why couldn't this use batteries instead.
The compartments aren't very deep so they won't hold much other than some coins or rings. I haven't tried this out yet, but thought I'd mention it anyway. I bought this because I like Pirates Of The Caribbean stuff.
Having said that, I wish the storage compartments were a bit larger to be able to store CD's. I give it 4 stars for being the unique item that it is. Wouldn't it have been extra cool to have provided a remote control shaped like Jack Sparrow's compass to go with it. It would have been even nicer if it was also a radio too.
It also allows you to hook your MP3 player up via a port located in the front of the chest. This is a nice novelty item to have and will no doubt increase in value over time for collectors of such items. But this is a cool novelty item to have and I will enjoy showing it off to friends.
I would have given it 5 stars if it also had a built in AM/FM radio and larger storage capacity. It's nothing great as a CD player is concerned, very basic.
