I've used this for the past year to link my MicroSD HC cell phone memory with my USB PC. My PC has an SD card reader but does not recognize HC (high capacity). This converter takes care of that. Also, I got mine free (except for shipping) when I bought memory from this manufacturer (Digital Media Source).
It's a simple item that's handy when I need to download files. Every computer desk drawer should include one.
Not a day goes by when this isn't put to use. It still works just fine after a year of using it. Very useful if your computer doesn't have media ports.
I received this as a free bonus when purchasing a microSD 8gb card for my phone. Since then, I upgraded phones, and the new phone came with a larger card. So I'm using the 8gb card in this device basically for a thumb drive, and I've had no problems with it. It is great to have for those times you're at a computer with no card reader built in. It is not very fast, though, so if you need a super quick data transfer option, this probably isn't it. You do need the adapater for the smaller formats, but if you use the smaller formats, you should have those anyway.
I got these as an extra with an order for SD memory cards. We received them promptly and used to download photos from my new camera. It was very fast and is convenient to carry along on trips.
