Ear Force X3 Headset: Chat + Wireless Game Audio, for Xbox 360
PC gamers rely on headphones to eliminate distracting noise around them, so they can concentrate on their game play and hear every nuance of the game audio. Stereo headphones with an integrated PC microphone are incompatible with the Xbox 360, so gamers are forced to choose between using standard headphones and talking online. Conventional Xbox communicator headsets cover one ear for chat, leaving only a single ear for hearing game audio from the speakers. The Ear Force X3 overcome this problem by pumping game audio AND online chat through high-fidelity headphones to deliver the privacy, clarity, and competitive edge of PC headphones on the Xbox 360 platform. They're also designed to enhance the Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming experience by enabling the user to independently control volume of amplified chat and game audio - a first for wireless headphones. Designed for premium sound, the X3s feature 40mm drivers in each ear cup and are powered by low distortion DC-coupled amplifiers for deep, rich bass sound. Engineered for long-gaming sessions, the headphones incorporate a soft, cushioned, adjustable headband, deep ear pads and tilting ear cups to fit the contours of the gamer's head. No matter if your priority is physical comfort, headset options or audio clarity, the Ear Force X3 wireless Xbox headphones will hold up to the test. Headset usable with other gaming systems (mic for Xbox 360 only)

The X3 from turtle beach will change your gaming experience. The range is decent with the transmitter. The mic sounds good and clear (because you can hear yourself when you talk, you actually realize how dorky you sound. I play a lot of Halo 3 and Call of Duty.
It could use more BASS though, but thats just something I personally like. haha). I purchased it because my dog chewed up my original headset that came with the xbox.
When the game sound is in idle (when there is no game noise) all you hear is a very annoying electro-static sound (WHITE NOISE). Headset is awesome for both games and it really does drown out any other sounds surrounding you in the room. It takes so getting use to but eventually you will learn to ignore it. One problem that I find very annoying with this product is WHITE NOISE.
Overall this product is good, and would recommend it. The headset is comfortable with plush leather padding.
I purchased this as a present for my step-son. After using it, he washed my car, cooked me supper, mowed the lawn and scrubbed the floors. I'm sure there are better, but for the money, this is great. Seriously; he was thrilled and said that it improved his enjoyment of his X-Box 360.
Some guy said rechargeables don't work but they do. I've had mine for about 2 weeks now and I'm enjoying them. They are pretty good for playing CoD4 and if you have a wife, fiance, girlfriend or even family that you don't want to disturb at night, this is definitely the product to buy (unless you have $250 to spend, then get one of those MLG sponsored headsets). This is a much smarter buy than getting the recharge tower for the Xbox 360 Controller Rechargeable batteries. If you play CoD4, you can sometimes tell when someone is running behind you but a lot of the time, you just don't know if they are in front or sometimes on your side. This is what I bought:. They are good, but not great.
People have mentioned the "wires/sound being backwards". I read the reviews here and talked to other people that used them and everyone said they sound AMAZING. This is true.sort of. Another issue I have with this set is the sound cutting out. The sound is good, but not AWESOME. Other people have said, and others confirmed, that when there's a big explosion, the sound cuts out.
They work great and you can use the AA's that come with it on your Xbox controller. So after noticing that, I started moving around and realized that you have to be pretty much dead on for it to work 99% perfect. Then the next time I played, I was sitting on the floor, not in direct line (I was under the sensor) and I noticed that the loud sounds would cut out. Just something to get use to I guess. Just like most people, I bought these so that my fiance wouldn't have to hear me on the nights where she had to get up early and go to work when I had the next day off. They have to be almost directly on your side for you to hear them just in the one speaker. Annoying but I can live with it.
Others have mentioned their batteries were being eaten a live, well BUY RECHARGEABLES. Well, everyone is use to having the mic on their right and ear force has changed it to have the mic on your left.
By doing this, it shouldn't cut out and if it does, it is not really noticeable. La Crosse Technology BC-900 AlphaPower Battery Charger. When I first got them, I was playing on my couch almost directly in line with the sensor and everything was working perfectly.
I've got great ears for sound quality unlike many people and I didn't think these were as "amazing" as people were putting them out to be. I have to tap one of the sensors for these to start working. One thing that is annoying is when I turn these on, they don't "work" right away.
So overall 4 out of 5 stars.
The only problem I have with this headset and why I didn't give it a 5 star review is that it does not have a charging stand. I bought these headsets to be able to play on XBox Live and listen to TV/movies late at night and they're almost perfect. I can almost walk out of the a 17' wide room before losing reception. I got about 20 hours of use out of the included AAA batteries before having to replace them. So you'll have to get rechargeable batteries and replace them every so often depending upon your use. The sound is amazing and the reception area is great.
You get about 20 hours or so of use before having to replace the batteries(AAA x 2). Manufacturing quality is decent, but for the money I would expect more. So if you walk away, you can only hear chat, but not game sounds, bad for bathroom breaks. I would really like it if you could plug your xbox rechargeable batteries into this thing, get power from the controller or just have an AC adapter I could plug in close to where I am sitting.
Wireless function is cool, would be nicer if it was RF instead of IR. When the batteries get low, sound quality goes to 0 and you can't talk over the mic. This thing EATS batteries. Headset plugs into the controller for chat sound. The sound quality is decent, though I wouldnt use these to listen to music or TV.
I have to tap them once for them to play at full volume when I first turn them on, no idea why. Headset does what it says, plays xbox sound independenlty of your stereo or TV. Direct line of site is required to hear sound.
