The gloss cartridge works with other cartridges in the system (T054420, T054320, T054220, T054820, T054120, T054720, and T054920, all sold separately) to produce vibrant color photos and to provide a uniform gloss coating, especially on glossy papers. Epson recommends using genuine Epson high-gloss UltraChrome pigment inks and genuine Epson glossy papers for the best results.

The gloss optimizer is the perfect last step when printing your photos on high gloss Epson paper. It protects the image and maintains a consistent sheen.
PROS:. It is important to me that my prints are of high quality, so I don't attempt to use the cheaper compatible ink cartridges. Price The color can be duplicated, but all inks are not created equal. Provides superior resistance to water, fading and smudging.
CONS:. The Epson gloss optimizer UltraChrome Hi-Gloss ink cartridge provides superior resistance to water, fading and smudging. Third party options may produce a good print initially, but may not hold up or last as long. When it comes to ink for my R1800 photo printer, I am concerned with the quality of the images I print.
