The PictureMate from Epson is a photo printer designed to produce lab-quality prints from the comfort of your own home. With its simple one-touch printing, 5,760 x 1,440 maximum dpi resolution, and convenient PictureMate Print Packs, this printer is a remarkable combination of quality, ease of use, and affordability.
Wide Compatibility
Slots for digital camera memory cards in several formats

The PictureMate prints JPEG or TIFF photos from any USB digital camera and is compatible with both Mac and PC operating platforms. A wide variety of card types are also accepted, including CF Type I and II, SmartMedia, Sony Memory Stick/MemoryStick PRO, Duo (requires adapter), SD, MMC, and xD-Picture.

The printer initially comes with a starter photo cartridge and 20 sheets of paper. Thereafter, you'll purchase PictureMate Print Packs, which contain 100 sheets of paper and a photo ink cartridge with an approximate 100-page yield.

Prints That Last and Stay Beautiful
Original print (left), then a spill-and-wipe test on leading glossy and semi-gloss papers (two middle) and on PictureMate (right)

The prints resist water, smudging, and most notably fading. Epson estimates an archival lifetime of up to 200 years if the photos are kept in a relatively dark place (such as a photo album) or up to 100 years in a frame (see Epson's web site for details). True borderless printing (or bordered, if you prefer) combined with sturdy stock help to give your prints a professional look and feel. A cartridge level indicator lets you know how much ink you have left.

Easy Operation
Simple menus and one-touch buttons make printing a snap!

Other features include a multiple print function that lets you make up to 100 copies of a single picture. A Save Photo button lets you back up digital files directly to an external CD-R, Zip drive, or USB Thumb drive.

The small 10-by-6-inch footprint fits neatly onto your desk or countertop, and the convenient handle provides true portability. An optional Bluetooth adapter lets you print wirelessly from Bluetooth enabled devices. The PictureMate is backed by a one-year limited warranty.

Epson PictureMate Personal Photo Printer Reviews

The pictures are as good as any I get from the local print shop. Epson PictureMate Personal Photo Printer I am not an expert, but print lots of pictures taken on a point-and-shoot compact camera. It is reliable. I have been very happy over a period of 3 years with this printer. The quality is very good.

This is a fantastic little printer. I'm a completely satisfied customer. The quality is better than an in-store print.

I'm 'calling it a day' with this frustrating little gem. It did print out several packs of pictures before developing a problem with printing at all. I'm looking for a good replacement. Called their nice tech support who sent out a "new" (refurbished) machine and it, too, is not 'recognized' and cannot print from either my desktop or laptop. It's a neat little printer. No longer "recognized" by my laptop, and this after uninstalling, downloading their latest drivers, reinstalling (3x so far) and still no luck.

It uses ink and paper, which means the photos for the Deluxe Viewer Edition are also waterproof and smear-proof even immediately after printing, and they cost only 29 cents per print. It takes about 1 minute 19 seconds to 1:45 for each photo, whether printed from a computer, memory card, or camera. My other photos I send to Sam's Club or even Wal-Mart for nearly the same price of 12 cents. To print from your computer, the only additional steps are to connect by USB cable and run the automated install program. It measure 6 by 10 by 6 inches (HWD), weighs 5.5 pounds, and has a handle. This is more of a convince thing for me. Now this is the kicker, it is cheaper to print them at Sam's Club for 12 cents per print, so I only purchased this because I can take it to scrap meets and print what I need when I need it.

: PictureMate Deluxe Viewer Edition takes the personal photo lab one step further, making it even easier to view, edit and print glossy 4" x 6" photos. You can also add Epson's optional Bluetooth adapter for wireless printing. This is what you have to weigh in on, convince for the price or what your pocket book can handle. Setup is just as easy as with the original. The Deluxe Viewer Edition also has a battery option. Simply slide the single six-color ink cartridgewith cyan, yellow, magenta, black, red, and blue inksinto the slot in the back, load the photo paper, connect the power cord, and you're ready to print from a camera, external CD or ZIP drive, a USB memory key, or any type of memory card, although you'll need an adapter for miniSD cards and some Memory Stick formats. It has come in handy for me at times and the prints come out nicely so it is a tossup for people on a budget. I purchased this mode for only 24.99 at Target where it normally retailed for 199.00 but it was on super clearance.

Epson really made a poor product with this picturemate printer. Beware - if you buy you will only be disappointed. I should have just bought a better printer for my computer. Thirdly, if you don't use it everyday, the ink nozzel has to be cleaned about 10 times before it will print your picture with true colors. The was such a waste of $200.00 dollars.

I was so excited to get this printer for Christmas but then.First of all, it won't print the entire picture - it always crops around the edges. Secondly, you can buy brand new ink but you only get about 10 good picture out of a cartridge and then it throws you error messages and tells you to buy a new cartridge. Best Buy won't even sell them anymore.
