Epson Stylus CX7400 Color All-in-One Printer Reviews

It came to me just as the seller described.perfect condition. I really like this printer. Thanks. Works great.

After one month (to late to return to the store) the scanner locked. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT-THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. They will replace or repair it if I send it in at my own expense, which of course is more than the cost of the printer. There is no locking mechanism and when I called Epson, I was told that the error lights on my printer mean that a part is no longer functioning. I have not had any problems with the ink issues.

Design-wise, monkeys could have done a better job. One needs the instruction manual every time if you want to change the ink. To sum up, do not by this printer. From an engineers point of view, this printer is slow and uses a ridiculous amount of ink to complete a task. I have been taking classes on engineering and design and this printer is probably the worst printer in both of those areas.

The software is also annoying. And even when nothing is printing out, the printer still won't let you change the ink cartridge because it hasn't "detected" that the ink is out yet. I do not recommend this printer to anyone. What is a person supposed to do with a printer that won't print and won't let you change the ink.

I have owned this printer for about a year and have not had any problems. You get out of a printer, computer, or what ever what you put in. Also it has a feature that no-one has pointed out when you are very low on Black ink and still have color it asks you if you want to continue to print with a blend of color ink to make the black instead of not printing at all. A PhD doesn't make you a expert in anything but what you have your PhD in. Of course there are some true pieces of junk out there, but this is not one of them. About $20. The quality of the output of this printer is very good, and the copy and scanning features come in handy for sure.

Duh. As to the Canon printer, check their support section; same thing as Epson, small amounts of color ink is used during start up. Personally, I have been in computer and PRINTER business for over thirty years. If you want to save ink; spool your print jobs, check your settings and use lower quality output.

I guess it has gone to your head and you are trying to impress us with your knowledge. Print often, if your printer doesn't get used very often your heads will plug up with dried ink and a cleaning cycle may not clear it, rendering that cartridge useless. It is cleaning the heads of ALL cartridges and sprays some ink through a sensor at the extreme right to align the printing. The printer companies don't make any money on the printer, just the ink. If you want to save money on ink, buy off brand cartridges and after one or two cycles of using them you will have killed your printer and then go buy another printer; remember $20 more than a set of OEM cartridges. I wonder about the whiners; haven't they figured out that ALL inkjet printers use ink and are priced cheap to get you to buy more ink. Think about it: how much did you pay for the printer.

Also the operation of ANY inkjet printer uses ink from all cartridges on warm up. Cost of printer minus cost of cartridges (they came with your printer) is the true cost of the printer. Why do you think the heads go back and forth when it starts up. Nice. As to the guy who has the PhD and is complaining about this printer,I don't know why you brought that up. Treat it with a little care, check your supplies and you will get better service.

What is the cost of a replacement set of ink cartridges. Your math is wrong, must not be your major. When you only print one page every now and then it will use MORE ink than if you printed multiple pages at once, because of this cleaning and aligning cycle that takes place when it starts up. I have been very pleased with it. To prove my point, there are only THREE color cartridges, not four.

I tried returning it to the store where I purchased it and they will not take it back as it has been more than 14 days, I must go through Epson. Throwing away 3/4's full cartridges is a serious waste of resources in a time when we should be trying to conserve them. I then moved it to my other computer with XP where it functions, barely. Well I was one of the ones who was duped. They do not accept returns for refunds, only exchanges under warranty.

Unfortunately the only system on which it works is XP. It is just an example of a company that hasn't learned from past mistakes. My recommendation-don't purchase it. I have been going around with Epson and finally today asked to return it. Epson has had class action suits against them for this very thing and have lost.

Most of the time it is out of ink and when it is out of ink it won't work, even if the cartridge is still 3/4's full. We have two computers and purchased this for the computer with Windows ME operating system.
