I'm not sure because this is made in Mexico not in Japan. I have faint area whenever I print the parts where magenta and cyan ink is required while other area look fine. I purchased 2 sets of this ink with Cyan. Very disappointed. :(
I believe in competition but I tried a refilled cartridge and although the quality was fine it didn't last as long. However I think you can still get more for your money by buying from the underdog. Epson makes good printers and has been eclipsed by HP over the years. Weighing that against the slightly lower price of the refills I think the originals are the way to go.
Price Third party options may produce a good print initially, but may not hold up or last as long.

The only way I know to clear a stubborn clog is to use significant quantities of ink. Gloss finish is excellent for an ink jet printer. These comments apply to all colors). {this is one of eight cartridges used for this family of printers. Although not directly a problem with the ink, Epson's delivery system can clog.
This will cause streaking. I don't know of any other choice of ink for the Epson R800 family of printers. Compared to other families of inkjet ink such as a generation back of HP's technology, the color is even and wonderful. Hint: Use good quality and preferably Epson paper to have the fewest color balance and evenness problems. Permanance is excellent.
