When i read many forums including Evga one, im going sad and sad because many many people describe the same problems, ramdom crashes playing games and 3d aplications, memory compatibility problems, etc. just save your money, dont buy it. im feeling stoled. not rma issue. I have many problems with this mb, serius inestability issues, i was searching for high end product but this isnt good at all.
I'm using a Quad Core,and 2gb ram DDDR3. I recommended this MB, it is not expensive, and very good quality. In this second time, Amazon also sent me the product in two days. I bought this item because the first one didn't work properly, Amazon was really effcient, and refund my money when I sent the stuff. The EVGA nforce 790i work now very good, it's a nice motherboard, very fast, and with a lot of possibilities.
So I just built my new rig with this motherboard and have had nothing but problems with it. There are forums filled with complaints on this motherboard. Have updated all my drivers and even bios and still no fix in sight even with the new bios just released. Has some really good features not offered on other motherboards but have been having nothing but problems. I have had nothing but lock ups during any gameplay and even some videos. I would wait for nvidia to fix this motherboard then it will be worth it.
Basically, if you are a gamer looking to overclock this is the platform for you (the Nvidia control panel allows you to overclock in windows for optimal performance). It makes for better upgradeability, which in this day and age with computers becoming obsolete in 18 months is an important factor. It supports DDR3 RAM speeds all the way up to 2000Mhz. If you are building a system or just looking to upgrade your motherboard & don't mind spending a little extra $$$ stop searching and buy this baby. The EVGA 790i Ultra motherboard is capable of 3-way SLI with its three PCI express 2.0 ports. All this including DirectX 10 support make this Nvidia's flagship PC gaming platform.
It is always a good idea to spend your extra dough on a quality chipset. This puppy is loaded with features, too many to list, but I'll go over some of the best ones:. Other features include 6 SATA 3.0GB/s ports, 2 Gigabit LAN ports, & 10 USB ports. The intel FSB specification is 1600 Mhz, but the box says that when overclocking the FSB can reach speeds well beyond this (which is really amazing).
