F/A 18 Operation Iraqi Freedom (Jewel Case) Reviews
Fun game definately a throw back to the past but quite solid overall
Do I have to read 700+ pages to learn how to fire the blankity-blankity-blank cannon. Otherwise, a GREAT feel to fly and great graphics and realism. Good job. I have so many great games, and this is one of the top-grade units.BUT.okay on all the hundreds of pages to become a "licensed Captain, USAF", but can't you on one simple page just print out the joystick/keyboard coding to fire all the various weapon. One spot says left click mouse, yet I hit "ENTER" to REALLY get it to fire. Am I missing something.
If you dont have a Joystick the keybord will give you problems. The graphic and the game play is bad. Falcon 4 is the game you want.
Cons: The users manual (on the CD) appears to be abridged from previous GraphSim manuals. The other negative reviewers for this game would find their problems solved if they just downloaded the v1.01 patch from graphsim.com. The flight modelling is impeccable, the weapons systems very realistic. Pro/Con: Opinions vary on the new 3D cockpit. And there is something to be said for its simplicity.
You can easily adjust the difficulty level from simple arcade-style (where you only use a few keystrokes to operate all the systems) to fully realistic (which uses the entire keyboard to operate almost everything on the actual aircraft). I've run this sim on several different systems, and the patch solves all the conflicts I've run into. But it is still quite extensive compared to other sim manuals. Some folks still prefer the older style 2D cockpit, but GraphSim has done an admirable job in integrating photo-realistic detail from their 2D cockpit into their new 3D cockpit. In my opinion, it is well worth the wait. Air Traffic Control (ATC) is still very minimal and is starting to show it's age. But it gets the job done.
The full-time 3D cockpit is not for everyone, but the photo-realistic scenery makes this sim stand out on its own accord. In-cockpit motion simulation is a new and fascinating touch as the pilot gets jostled around when jinking the aircraft. This adds a whole new dimension to combat flight-simming, and is the reason for the long installation times. Pro: Currently, this is the only combat flight sim with photo-realistic scenery based on real-world satelite imagery. Conclusion: All-in-all a great Hornet sim. Pro: GraphSim's F/A-18 series continues to be the most realistic Hornet sim available.
this game is terrible expecialy if you have a jostick. do not buy this game. it takes hours to install even if you have tons of ram.
