I just played Fable for the first time this holiday season & thought it was excellent. The story line I picked was great (I picked a good guy one). The graphics are excellent. The only complaints I'd make are that there should be better dialogue between characters and there's something wrong with the fighting system. The fighting system is totally sufficient but its missing something... I always have the feeling that it could've been so much better if they worked on the fighting system better.
Also, I don't rememeber the bad guys name but, the first fight with the bad guy/king is kind of annoying. They made him so much better than your character that I always feel that I only beat him by blind luck (i've replayed the fight a few times) rather than your players skill. I don't like fights like that.
The marriage idea was pretty weird too. Leave that for games like Sims, not games like this. If this game was real life, the bad guys would probably just go after the wife & kids in order to hurt the main character. I don't think they do that in this game (I didn't get married) but still, why include marriage in a game like this?
I still rate this 5 stars though. I don't have xbox360 & never will b/c of its reliability issues but I hope they fixed the fighting system for the fans. Again, I'm not saying its bad, but it feels like it could be so much better.
I bought this game used for only $9.99 and it is in great condition. If you enjoy role playing games that give you options of being good or evil this is the game for you. It's also very interactive. And even if you reach the end you are not done. You can continue on to better yourself or create more havic.Or just start over and choose the opposite path. It's addictive and just all around great fun.
This was bought as a Christmas present for my wife. She has been playing Fable II and wanted to play the original.
We dusted off the original X-box console and she and her Mom have been playing the Hell out of the game. They both LOVE the game and finding The Lost Chapters was even better. The play is different but the story line is good. The key to making it a funner experience is to take ALOT of the side missions and build up your experience before continueing on the main mission which the Guildmaster keeps bitching at you to continue. Some of the Demon doors take some thinking to open and can be as simple as turning on a lantern that hopefully you didn't sell as soon as you could. My wife likes the mini-games in this version BETTER than the Fable II mini-games.
This game is THE BEST on Xbox! In the entire world of games, there is only one greater and that is Fable II (but that will be a different review. If you have not bought Fable yet, this is a must. It has many new missions than the regular (Yes I beat the regular 5 times than bought this one). It also works great on the Xbox360, too. They put much work into this game I can easily tell. I hope that the Fable series NEVER dies. And Fable III is looking great(but again, that will be a different review. If you've played the regular Fable before and liked it, you'll LOVE this one. The added extras (weapons, missions, areas, tattoos, and hair styles) are great. Game is longer with the added quests (which is nice, I like a long game). If you've played the original or Fable II and if you have the money (or can get it) buy this game! You'll love the amazing world of Albion!
This is a very well put together game. It lets you chose your path through this mystical world. It is not a patch to the first game. You DO NOT NEED TO OWN FABLE to play this game. If you are new to fable buy the lost chapters because it has more content then the original. HAVE FUN
