Fable Reviews

It is even a fun game to 'watch' someone else play. This was the first game I played with the Xbox and I really think it lived up to its expectations. Great fun all around. This game was obviously had developers with a sense of humor and that was helpful in the entertainment factor as well. There are plenty of little side games to play along the way. The graphics were good and the game play was good as well. I loved being able to play it more than once, making my character either into an evil person or a good person depending on the deeds I did during the course of the game. It is not a 'long' game, but like I mentioned before, you can do all sorts of things with it that take more or less time depending on what you decide to do.

It also switches into a sort of dangerous sounding theme when you're near enemies. Its very light hearted for most of the game, but it gets pretty epic and loud during boss fights. Likewise, if you play like a saint, you look like one. I consider the combat to be mostly balanced, except that the ranged weapons are kind of useless. There's some awesome game-play to be found here. It has high amounts of shine and a surprisingly high amount of textures. Peter Moleneux may be a little overly ambitious, but the game still turned out great. Which brings me to the side quests, there are lots of side quests, and it makes the game last much longer if you do them.

The soundtrack is surprisingly good. The combat is fun, simple and responsive. Lucky for us, this game rocks. Just an overall awesome game if you have an Xbox, Xbox 360, or PC and you give it the chance it deserves. Its kind of how you'd want a fairy tale based game to look. Being able to just fly between melee and spells mid-fight is awesome.

If you take the time to actually play Fable, you'll realize its still a very open ended RPG, and one of the best at that. In other words, its a very impressive game for its time. In terms of artistic design, it fairly unique. In terms of graphics alone its one of the best looking game on the original Xbox.

Fable is one of those games people love to hate. I know its not as open ended as promised, and there's a couple other minor broken promises, but overall its very cool and fun to play. It was hyped up big time, and it didn't really deliver on all of those promises, so people give it a hard time. Visually, the game is one of the best of the PS2/GCN/Xbox generation. Its not the best music I've heard in a game, but it works pretty well and reacts to what's going on in the game world. Game-play is always the core of the game, if the game-play is broken, the rest of the game might as well be nonexistent. The story is fairly predictable, but its not a bad one either.

The more evil you play, the more evil you look, you start to grow horns, become very pale, and you develop a sort of red glow. There's a lot of different weapons that you can augment, including secret ones you usually have to do separate quests for. The thing that stands out most to me is that depending on the way you play, your character becomes good or evil. People also react to you differently depending on how evil or good you look.

While the world isn't as open ended as I had hoped it would be, it still has the long draw distance that you would want it to have had it been more open ended. I like ti a lot, and it brings you into the game's style very well. The ending of the game is also different depending on if you're good or evil. Character customization goes beyond good and evil, you can choose tattoos, hair styles, beards, clothes, weapons, and more.

Everything is pretty well detailed.

You start as a young boy who is just trying to do deeds to get his sister a birthday present. Luckily, you are saved by a man named Maze and taken to the Hero's Guild. Overall- 7/10 (Note- This is how much I like the difficulty). Despite the game being short, it packs in an incredible story. You have no idea why.

I found it to be much more interesting to be evil myself, but you may feel differently. There is usually just a dark suit, normal suit, and light suit at each level of clothing. That is one of the great things about this game. It's not supposed to look realistic or cartoony. Soon, bloodthirsty bandits attack your town of Oakvale.

They are looking for you and your family. From there you begin training to be a Hero, who can be good or evil. It all depends. Sound- 7/10. Was it. Graphics- 8/10. Everything else is as easy as block/attack/block.

Many hardcore gamers will be let down by the game's simplistic design and lack of options that mean anything. You will grow up and take on new challenges as you go along. Fable was supposed to be the game in which everything you did affected your story and character. The music will always fit what is going on though. Story- 9.5/10. The lighting is there, but I would not consider it the best.

Fable has a different type of graphical style to it. Some spells are for hurting your opponents, but some are for helping you. The only side quests are Demon Doors, which you have to do a task to open, and they aren't that great anyway. Fable is very fun to play. The sounds effects of everything are average to good. It is an RPG, but the game is very simplistic. This is the best aspect of the game.

The only thing you could have problems with is the final boss and the arena challenge. Environments are all very well done and nothing feels repetitive. There is a fairly large variety of magic spells you can use. Your appearance plays a role as to how people treat you, but not a big enough role for it to matter how you dress. It is however, an extremely fun game that anyone can pick up and play. They are usually just stronger than your last weapon. The game can be completed in a few hours. You have melee combat, archery, and magic at your disposal.

Just don't expect a Final Fantasy XII type game. No, not by any means. Your foes sounds are pretty good. Everything is easily distinguished from one another. The music is always good, but it can get tedious after a while due to them playing a lot of the same music over and over again.

You can take multiple ways to get through the game. Everything sounds good. Sadly, despite whatever way you take, you will end up in the same place at the end of the game. Fable. It's easy to pick up if you aren't a committed game player. Difficulty- 5/10.

Sadly, there isn't much variety in weapons. The game is short and easy. The weapon sounds are a little below average. This isn't the best game in the world, but it is a solid game. This game really shines in this area of judging. Any learning curve that exists is explained during the opening hour of the game. They kill all of your family, or at least it seems that way at the time. Gameplay- 8.5/10.

Magic on the other hand is very fun to use. Still, the good story and ability to be good or evil makes this game good and I suggest it to anyone. Also, body armor/clothing is lacking in this game. You will play it many times just to have an evil or good character. There isn't much bad you can say about the sound.

Since I didn't have high expectations for this game, when I played it I was simply shocked by how good it actually was. The gameplay and story are addictive and fun. The game is full of humor and a lot of action. Since I bought it to play on my Xbox 360 the game was very cheap by then so not only did I buy one of the best game ever, but I got it for a mere $10. Along with the two Halo games, Fable is one of Xbox's best games.

I consider it to be a compliment. If you choose to kill innocent people, the guards/police will come after you. This game is great even 3 years after the initial release (maybe even better because you avoid the hype). They should follow the lead of GTA style games, where once you've completed the main story line you can continue to free-roam and complete side quests. This game shares a few similarities with GTA San Andreas. (hence my title) It offers a large open ended world where you can kill random people. From the perspective of someone who's playing the game 3 yrs after its release, I missed all of the hype.

The bottom line is; Fable is a deep action adventure RPG where the journey is greater than the destination. Since Fable offered live action fighting this aspect was better than KotOR, but KotOR had a better story line. After switching from PS2 to Xbox 360, I'm finding that there are a ton of Xbox exclusive games that offer hours of entertainment. That's about where the similarities end.

I'm not a big fan of turn based fighting where you queue up your next move. This is only my second RPG (KotOR was my first). This game has an excellent journey with a very abrupt ending. In fact there are no modes of transportation (except teleporting). My biggest complaint with this game is that once you take your final quest the game is over. That being said I probably rank this game higher than those who bought the hype. After you've worked so hard to get the best weapons, and max out your attributes you should be able to actually use them. The actual game is more comparable to Zelda.

Many of the reviews mention that this game did not live up to the hype. In both games you can have multiple wives/girlfriends in different cities (both of which give you gifts if you keep them happy). You can't steal cars, boats or planes (obviously). You get so lost in the game that you don't even notice that there isn't a single horse in the entire world. Apparently within the hype were a lot of broken promises. That aspect of Fable is nothing like GTA. This game has tons of secrets and plenty of things to do every step of the way. When people complain about a game being too short (I'm looking at you Gears of War, Bioshock, Halo 3) what they're really saying is, now that the game is over I wish I were still playing it.
