Fallout 3

For 200 years, Vault 101, a fallout shelter, has served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants. Yet one morning, you awake to find that your father has left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you've ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father. Fallout 3 is a singleplayer action role-playing game (RPG) that combines the horrific insanity of the Cold War era theory of mutually assured destruction gone terribly wrong with the kitschy naivety of American 1950s nuclear propaganda.

Mind-Blowing Artificial Intelligence - Radiant AI, America's First Choice in Human Interaction Simulation. Facial expressions, gestures, unique dialog, and lifelike behavior are brought together with stunning results Eye-Popping Prettiness - Witness the harsh realities of nuclear fallout rendered like never before in modern super-deluxe HD graphics

The third game in the Fallout series, Fallout 3 is a singleplayer action role-playing game (RPG) set in a post-apocalyptic Washington DC. Combining the horrific insanity of the Cold War era theory of mutually assured destruction gone terribly wrong, with the kitschy naivety of American 1950s nuclear propaganda, Fallout 3 will satisfy both players familiar with the popular first two games in its series as well as those coming to the franchise for the first time.

Fallout 3 Reviews

If your like me and see all kinds of flaws like "If its been 200 years, how are able to eat anything you find and how is it not dust." don't bother going any further. I can honestly say that this is the most boring game I have ever played, ever. Leave out the "Action" and replace with "Boring" and your 100% correct. Put it this way, your going to spend the game talking to an endless amount of boring NPCs.you rarely shoot anything and the world you "live" in is full of random quests that are even more boring than the game. If you look around your going to see a very hyped rating of this game. The defenders of this game will say its a "Action RPG.". Fallout 3 isn't worth the hype or the price because it is a shallow game with a weak story.

STALKER however, is renowned for being glitchy, something that I have never encountered while playing Fallout. If you don't buy it, you will regret it. I am a huge fan of the STALKER series and this game is very much like it, with the strange creatures and the post apocalyptic world. Fantastic game with pretty good graphics and a great story line. Now that I finally have it, I realize that I probably should have been even MORE excited about it. I have been excited about this game for a while. It has a GIGANTIC open world and a good amount of interesting weapons. Awesome game.

Did I mention it was buggy. The landscapes are beautiful though I wish they had programmed more colors than than brown, brown, grey, brown and muzzleflash and 'splosion. I've been a fan of the fallout serries since I found out about them and I can not hype this game enough. Constant crashing, freezing, story bugs, more flaws than you can shake a stick at and if I was a developer of this game, I'd hang my head in shame. Character creation is fun, the NPC's are fun, the AI is great, I can't hype it enough, IF you save every 5 minutes and don't get mad at the constant crashing and freezing. Just save every 5 minutes and you'll love it.

To see this # of bugs and and little to no mention of when the patch will come out is pathetic. Beyond buggy. If it 3was not for the infestation bugs, this would easily be one of the best games of all time IMO. The saddest thing is that it's been a full month and there is still no patch to deal with these issues. Beyond that, this is probably the best game I have EVER played to date. Game play is much like oblivion but with guns, lovely lovely guns. The plot is great, the game scales which is very cool, there's more side quests than main plot and that's the allure.

I've played 4 hours a day for a month and I have yet to see everything. I do not know anyone that did not have issues with this game and I'm an A+ certified tech and so are all my friends who bought it. Anyway, I have to cut this short because I'm addicted to it and have to go play.

It's kind of ridiculous but I guess there's no way for the game to distinguish between casually picking something up to look at it and stealing something. If you like gratuitous blood and gore, there's a "perk" that your character can earn to significantly increase the amount of blood and gore that is displayed when your character kills an enemy. Moira Brown's shop is littered with items. Try not to press the "E" key all the time because if an item is in the crosshairs and the item's label is red, your character will instantly grab the item and this will anger any NPCs next to your character. These don't always contain good loot but sometimes they do (e.g., the power fist).

Resist the urge to drink or sell them. The irradiated monsters and NPCs in the game are truly grotesque and many of them just lunge at you. The difficulty of the enemies you encounter in the Wasteland increases as your character levels up. You will want to keep track of these. For me, the biggest pluses of this game are the appearance of the outdoor environments, NPCs and buildings.

There's a great variety in the skills you can give your character: you can have a "soldier" character who excels in bringing down foes with every gun in the game or a "ninja" character who excels in stealth, melee and unarmed combat. The Wasteland is huge so you probably won't visit every area on the map on your first play-through. Eventually, your character will have a home. Your enemy literally explodes into many small bits of flesh. Normally you can make up to 4 attempts. I don't recommend that you level up too quickly. You will WANT to be able to unlock every terminal because it may result in deactivating some turrets or activating a Protectron guard that will help you with enemies.

If your "lockpick" skill is high enough (e.g., 80 or more) and you run out of bobby pins, you can simply the force the lock and usually it will open. Try to explore the Wasteland while you are still at a low level because at higher levels, the really big enemies start appearing and they will make exploring outdoors dangerous. I bought the "Vault" house theme and the jukebox for around 1500 or 2000 caps but sadly they were NOT worth the money. The Fallout 3 web site has some "recipes" for character builds that's good to read before building a character. For example, Moira Brown's quests don't look very interesting at first but for example one of the quests allows your character to gain a useful ability that will enhance survival. These optional objectives are more difficult but are definitely worth attaining. I found that to be extremely fun initially but after doing it a dozen times, it kind of felt too over the top.

The creature design lends a lot to the feeling of danger when your character is out in the Wasteland. Save all the Nuka Cola bottles, Nuka Cola Quantum bottles, Holo-tags and Pre-war books you find. Save the money for guns and ammo (e.g., Fat Man and Mini Nukes) or stimpaks. These elements all effectively build up the feeling of immersion in the in-game world. Sometimes, the bits are too small to find so it takes a while to find one to loot your enemy. The music from your Pip Boy is ironic but really catchy. It's great when the song "Butcher" plays while you're mowing down super mutants with a minigun.

In Fallout 3, your character can "hack" computer terminals by selecting words from a memory dump on the computer terminal. Also, as you explore buildings and underground terrain, you will encounter many locked doors that will require a high "lockpick" skill to open them. What I did not know is that you can make THREE attempts then press the Red button on the terminal to cancel that "session". I made the mistake of hitting "E" and my character grabbed something off the counter. Afterwards, Moira's guard started shooting at my character.

This way you can access the terminal again. I did not became comfortable seeing a centaur even after seeing so many of them. This game is a 5 out of 5. You can keep doing this as long as you never go beyond the maximum 4 attempts. Everything looks beat up and run down and it all fits with the game's setting. The quests in Fallout 3 contain one or more Optional objectives.

Maybe 1 out of 10 pc users can actually play this game with out problems. But it is far to buggy to play and have an actual enjoyable experience.

You can get to it through the bethsda or bethsoft site. This game has more glitches, more bugs, more crashes than any game I have ever played.

Maybe one of the best ever made. Whatever you do, do not purchase this game for PC until a patch is out.

If you still want to waste your money go ahead, I just thought I would warn people of how faulty this game is before they waste $50. When the game actually plays correctly, it is a phenomenal game.

If you don't believe me about the faulty issues, at least check out the forum and read about the problems this game has on PC. Check out the Bethesda Fallout 3 PC issues forum.
