Final Fantasy X

Final Fantasy X takes you into the world of Zamarkand, where you must face down the dark force called Sin to save the world. Tidus is a star athlete who survives a massive disaster. With the help of a girl named Yuna, he journeys to temples & monasteries to find truth. Learn to summon aeons-old spirits of power to add to your fighting abilities as you battle the evils of Sin. Spectacular graphics and incredible voiceover work will immerse you in a new world where evil forces threaten the existence of all you know! Life-like, high-polygon, motion-captured characters designed by renowned artist Tetsuya Nomura Dolby Digital 5.1 channel Surround EX compatible Enchanting musical score, with tracks featuring a distinct Japanese Okinawan flavor

Each installment of the Final Fantasy series has featured strong storytelling, characterization, and strategic combat, fun minigames, and hours upon hours of captivating gameplay. The 10th title in the series is no exception. This is the first time a Final Fantasy game has appeared on the PlayStation2, and it takes full advantage of the increased technical capabilities.

The story this time concerns Tidus, a blond-haired star of a sport called Blitzball. While he is playing in a match, Tidus's city is attacked by an evil force called Sin, and everything is destroyed save Tidus and his guardian Auran. The adventure begins as the pair are somehow transported to another world. From here on, it's standard Final Fantasy gameplay: fight battles, manage experience points, learn new powers, and recruit a motley crew of nonplayer characters to join your quest.

The graphics, however, take things to a new level. They are amazing not only for their realism, but also for their imaginative art design. The world these heroes inhabit is breathtakingly beautiful, flowing, and full of inventive surprises. You haven't lived until you've surfed cables high in the air, or ridden a graceful airship through the clouds. The stunning effects are on display when you use magic in combat, summon gigantic monsters, and use fire columns to devastate your foes.

One new element is voice acting. The innovation yields predictably mixed results: it's wonderful to hear spoken dialogue rather than read subtitles, but as with most games translated from Japanese, the acting is mediocre and sometimes unintentionally hilarious.

Still, the game's new graphics engine and solid gameplay are sure to please fans of the series waiting to see what Square has in store for them. While Final Fantasy X doesn't offer much innovation, it also doesn't disappoint. And fortunately, with Final Fantasy XI already in development, the title is still a misnomer. --Andrew S. Bub

Pros:

  • Gorgeous graphics
  • Epic story line
  • Voice acting
Cons:
  • Little innovation
  • The voice acting is sometimes laughable

Final Fantasy X is the first title in this landmark RPG series to be released for the PlayStation2. The main characters are Tidus, a star of blitzball (a hugely popular sport in the Final Fantasy universe), and Yuna, who has learned the art of summoning and controlling aeons, powerful spirits of yore. These two people of different backgrounds must work together as they journey through the world of Spira. This installment of Final Fantasy has a distinctly Asian influence, bringing a fresh feel to the characters, music, settings, and story.

Features include voice-overs for the first time in the series (utilizing the Facial Motion System), high-polygon, motion-captured player characters designed by Tetsuya Nomura, and a camera that automatically adjusts its perspective to correspond with the movements of the characters--a feature now possible because the game is largely polygonal.

Final Fantasy X Reviews

It will stick in your mind and you will remember the ending for quite some time. You will not forget this game. This game was literally the first time I actually started to become emotional in playing a video game. The game's pacing and character development allow you to empathize with all of the characters, particularly Yuna and Tidus. However, the endless battles can get annoying, along with the constant item hunting/searching. All the characters are brilliantly woven and serve their purpose. The storytelling is absolutely brilliant - the conclusion so well done and wondrous, it clearly outshines anything a live action movie could ever hope to do.

since I am still mad I WASTED 20 DOLLARS ON THIS GAME. The story is long and dull if you liked FF 1-9 AVOID FF 10 Final Fantasy 10 is lets face it a bad 50 hour long movie. Im not even going to give it a decent review. Tidus voice sounds like hes eleven years old. I mean the voice acting of this game is just sooooo terrible.

Ha. Thanks Rigo =) i liked Final Fantasy 7, and yet even this game made me think twice after that, and im still in a debate towards which one i personally like more, but again for all who say this game is more cinamatic, let me say, what game isn't now these days., kinds like this game started it, but not really. Nough said. I have played many Final Fantasy games, basically thats my personal franchise i have been into ever since. i laugh at gamers who have played this game or those who have played this game but never had the chance to finish it, and still give it a bad review. We'll yet it is more of a movie, let me say this really clear "IT"S THE BEST MOVIE YOU"LL NEVER SEE" this game has perfect voice acting, more like every voice actor fits that character from young Tidus, to creepy Seymour, you'll fall into the story as it goes, and makes you wanting more of each character and how they all react to thier main goal, the animation is great pushing the PS2 to its great boundaries of rending true graphics on the ps2 like God or war, if not better. go rent it, buy it, whatever, but this game is good in anyway, and i never wanted to play it until my cousin forced me to think twice.

esta bien el juego, tiene mucha variedad de opciones, el juego en si solo para sacarle el final es corto, pero si quieres saber todo sus trucos y cosas ocultas se tardaran mucho.

that those games are like movies man let met tell ya "but they are still aswome" ok not that that is taken care of lets jump into the review. there where a few really good songs but over all i've heard alot better game music. it reminds me a lot of "Shogun". then like he gets involced with these people as they try and save the world. 2. all the envierments are nice and luch.

ok i'm done the music waswnt taht good i thank. later that year i was about to get 7 8 and 9 so i had no ideal what to expect. and he is trying to find his way home. The graphics totatly rock my sockas. when you win a battle you get sphere points and you can upgrade your character on this like huge chpere grid.

first i'm gonna tell ya what i just loooooove about this game. 1. This was my first Final Fantasy game to tell the trught. I've never before seen a game with some much storyline it blew my away man. Ok first off let me get one thing cleared up for all of you "playas".

like it's about this guy who gets stranded in the futre but it dosent look like the futre it lookes like the past. That is just the meat and potatos of the game. that was the first time iv'e ever really played an RPg game. i don't like the leving up system cause there is no levling up. i just don't like htat man but it doese work. now i've got to tell yw what i didn't like about the game. 1. These people have oviesly never played any of the xenasaga games.

i've read alot of reviews about people crying over how the game is to much like a movie "ohhhhhhhhh the cutscenes are to long ooooooooooooowaaaa". this is the one that really bugs me. when they show a FMV it totaly blows you away everything is so clear. 2 Like i said before the storyline rocks.
