As it is, I'm back for one, minus the Spanish, as a birthday gift. I have had my Franklin Spanish/English Dictionary for several years and use it often, if it was lost I would buy another of the same.
:) If you're an adult, then a dictionary with a larger word capacity would be a better buy. For instance, the screen doesn't light up, the word list can't hold more than 40 words, and the buttons sometimes tend to be unresponsive. This is a great product, especially at such a low price. The time it takes to define a word is fairly quick as well. There are a few drawbacks to the product. The best feature for me was the list of SAT words and flashcards.
At least if you're in high school. I definitely recommend it. Still, for about $30, you get more than you'd expect. It was more efficient than making index cards or studying definitions from a regualar dictionary. Some definitions include funny etymologies toward the end that really help the word stick.
For example, typing in the word "becus" came up with "basis" and "bassos" but not "because." I bought this for my daughter to help with spelling. It was useless for that purpose.
So useful for a quick definition. I leave it on my nightstand so I can look up words without pulling out the giant dictionary everytime. Exactly what I wanted.
Am considering adding an English to French translator to my repertoire too. Excellent functionality. I'm very satisfied with the next-to-bed-lamp and on-the-bus service it provides.
