It is a great purchase. The speaking function is works just great. Very useful and interesting. It costs all money completely. I higly recommend it.
I almost purchased this item, but while I was searching for other user's reviews on different websites, I noticed on the spec that it has no voice function. This is a "non-speaking" dictionary. So, if you are looking for a real "speaking" dictionary, this is not your choice. (on the Amazon product details, it's not really clear) I confirmed that on their website ([.].). I can't really review this item cause I don't own it. I just wanted shoppers to know that this dictionary does NOT have a voice function even thought its name includes the word, "speaking".
He took to this product like a duck to water. I purchased this item for my 9 year old who is an avid reader (he just recently finished the book Eldest) and thought that this electronic dictionary would be helpful for him to understand the many unfamiliar words he came across in is readings. He had no problems keying in the words and using the various functions of the dictionary. He was too pleased with it to even consider exchanging for another dictionary that folds. The only reason for the 4/5 rating was the dictionary does not fold close. It would have been nice to have a dictionary that can fold close so that it can be more compact when he puts it in the back-pack my kid likes to read in the car on his way to various after-school activities. The instructions must have been written well enough for a 9-year old to understand as he was soon explaining to me instructions on how to use the dictionary.
