GE 2-Line Speakerphone with Caller ID Reviews
This phone was purchased for an elderly household based on a referral. The sound broke up intermittenly during the entire transmission. There were too many buttons for a senior user, causing confusion and frustration. The phone was purchased with priority on the speakerphone for a specific usage. The problem encountered was with the speakerphone quality.
For a small charge the phone company switched her to touch tone. It's got it all. Comes with the option of using the phone with a headset. No more answering machine headaches. The reciever is comfortable for your hand as well as your ear. She especially likes the flashing voice mail button. There is no switch to allow for chosing either touch tone or pulse.
She had no problem setting up the options. It comes with a second line set-up but if you don't need it it doesn't get in the way. I bought the phone for my 81 year old mother. Large caller Id screen and plenty of spaces for speed-dial numbers.
Caller ID is large and backlit. Unfortunately, this phone was more of a disappointment in that the speakerphone feature was horrible. Just attach your favorite headset, and start to use it. It was easy to set up and use right from the start. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase and recommend this phone for home or small office use. In fact, I can actually have a 2 way conversation with the RCA speakerphone. I've attached a headset using the 2.5mm jack; an external amplifier is not necessary since the phone has one built in.
I have one line, and therefore have not bothered with the 2nd line setting. Sound is very good through the handset and speakerphone. I've had several different office phones over the past few years. So, I decided to research again and came across this RCA 2-line model.
Most calls could not be heard since every other word was dropped. The volume setting for the headset is separate from the speakerphone, and this is recalled the next time you use that method to talk. Saving names and numbers to the directory or quick access buttons is straightforward. Lastly, by simply pushing the down volume button, you quickly shut off the ringer for times when you don't want to be interrupted.
The speakerphone is loud and much, much better than the Fanstel. I've been using it for a few weeks and have been quite happy. Most recently, I purchased a Fanstel phone, after reading reviews and doing some research online.
