GE 29893GE1 Speakerphone with Answering System and Caller ID

For over 100 years, what has remained constant is GE's dedication to change and progress. And it's what will keep the company growing over the next 100 years. From jet engines to power generation, from financial services to plastics, from television to medical imaging, GE people worldwide are dedicated to turning good ideas into products and services that make the world a better place.General Electric 29893GE1 is a caller ID speakerphone with digital messaging system. It features a 10-number phone memory, a one-touch redial, a new call LED indicator, a digital message counter, and more.

GE's 29893 is sensibly designed in a classical corded form. It has a 10-number memory to quickly call up your most frequently dialed numbers. The speakerphone frees your hands for more important tasks, and the one-touch redial button is extremely convenient when you've just remembered something important to tell a friend after hanging up.

The 99-name-and-number caller ID memory tracks your missed calls, displayed on the three-line LCD. The built-in digital answering can store up to 10-minutes of messages without the use of tapes or other moving parts that can wear out. Access your messages when you are away from home with any of 10 remote functions at your disposal from any touch-tone phone.

Separate volume controls for the handset, speakerphone, and ringer let you customize the proper audio levels, and the phone is wall mountable to help save space. GE offers a one-year limited warranty.

GE 29893GE1 Speakerphone with Answering System and Caller ID Reviews

I only give it a four out of five stars for it having that silly "missed call" light (the light you see just right of the display). Again, my phone has been great. I say go for it. when that light goes on you have to know the trick to making it go off, outside of that I love the phone, and the buttons are large and easy to use. also the hand set is of a very good quality, and the phone will sound great to those you speak with.

So the memory is not an issue. I am sorry others have had a poor experience; maybe those phones were re-furbished/re-manufactured but I have had NONE of the issues mentioned previously with voicemail or sound quality. Only replacing b/c now I get a low buzz sound in the phone but what should I expect after 10 yrs. I've even moved since 05 and the phone still housed the messages (I save a job promotion voicemail as incentive and motivation - just a side note) ANYHOW, again - had the phone since 1997, no issues. I still have voicemails on my phone from May of 2005. But when this phone was manufactured, backlights and some of the other bells and whistles were not a hot commodity. I've had this phone since I was in college and I am online looking for a new one only because after 10 yrs, the phone line is started to sound garbled. This is an all in one phone; very convenient and RELIABLE.

My wife purchased this phone in a pinch thinking that GE is a good name in electronic products. We are not always guaranteed a clear transmission due to transient clicks, radio singnals, music, and static from outer space. God only knows. The only reliable feature left on this phone is that we can dial a phone number and receive phone calls. I have never been able to leave a phone message because it says it is always full. Our faith has waned anf we will purcahse a new phone. Why havewe keep it.

The only thing is the voice is very weak and garbled that tells you if you have messages. I like the phone very much.

Stay clear of it. It appears that when it resets itself to default date/time settings the greeting won't play when the machine picks up, a message can't be recorded, and the machine doesn't hang up after the message length time has been exceeded. And again it went back to default settings within minutes. It worked once. I set it up again. Not 5 minutes had passed and it had reset itself again. I reset it again.

I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing this phone. I followed the instructions to set it up. This is the worst answering machine I have had. When you try to remotely set it you can't because it doesn't appear recognize the security code. Then it reset itself to default settings for date and time.
