Huge Environments, Bigger Gameplay
For those who loved Gears of War, Gears of War 2 builds upon it in every way, but with several major enhancements. There are more weapons, bigger vehicles, and more action. The enemies are more dangerous, and the total experiences is more immersive than ever. And with a revolutionary tactical combat system, the game will require not just fast reaction times and shooting skill, it will also challenge you to devise a strategy that will work against the enemies who exhibit smart AI.

Jaw-Dropping, Realistic Graphics
Just as Gears of War did the first time around, Gears of War 2 ups the ante for graphical prowess. Combined with the sweeping vistas and evocative locales of Sera, where the story takes place, Gears of War 2 offers jaw-dropping graphics that are made possible through advances in Unreal Engine 3. New visual effects include ambient occlusion, dynamic shadows, improved character lighting, the ability to render hundreds of on-screen characters simultaneously, improved water physics, additional blood and bullet decals, advanced destructible environments, new weather effects, and the introduction of fluid objects.

Immersive, Gripping Story
Taking place six months after the end of the first game, Gears of War 2 returns the cast of characters of the original, including Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, as well as several newcomers.

Novelist and comic book writer Joshua Ortega, who assisted with the writing, has created a story that is big on character development and personality. With a new in-game conversational camera system and multiple story arcs, the story is presented in a gripping cinematic style where characters gain an emotional depth that matches their realistic graphical representation.

More Characters, Upgraded Vehicles, Badder Weapons
Those who were impressed by the original Gears of War will be in for a real treat. New characters such as Tai Kaliso, weapons like the burst pistol, and huge vehicles like the COG Centaur tank will give players a whole new dimension and scope of gameplay in both single-player and multi-player modes.

Multiplayer Action with Xbox LIVE!
Gears of War 2 features a multiplayer mode that allows up to 10 simultaneous players for outstanding multiplayer fun. Taking full advantage of the Xbox LIVE service, which boasts 10 million gamers, Gears of War 2 features both competitive and cooperative multiplayer gameplay. Setting up games is simple with LIVE, and you have the ability to drop in and out of co-operative campaigns at any time.

Everything you loved about multiplayer in the original is back, including the classic death matches, but with this sequel there is an added emphasis on teamwork. New multiplayer game modes will require better coordination in order to win. The game also features voice support, so you can communicate with other players around the world -- whether you're on the same team or trash talking!

Gears of War 2 won several awards at E3 2008, where it was first presented, including Overall Best Shooting Game and Overall Best Graphics Technology of E3 2008 from IGN, as well as Best Action Game of E3 2008 from the Game Critics Awards.

Gears of War 2 Reviews

The headshots in Gears of War are so incredibly satisfyingto see their head explode from a thousand yards through the scope of your high powered sniper rifle, and the blood spurting from their severed arteries is fulfilling on a primal level. In my opinion, it beats out Halo 3 hands down. The AI of the Grugs (nickname for the aliens you fight) is quite good.better than the AI of the Flood in Halo. And the online play is great. As I have mentioned, this is one of the best games ever.

The story was good, although the ending felt a bit disappointing, we still have Gears 3 to make up for it. Although I will admit the online play was a bit sluggish at release, with a few patches the game has highly improved, even including a new ranking system. I hope :P The controls on Gears 2 feel a bit more simple than the first but it allows new players to join in the fun. Horde was a great addition to Gears game play and it is mostly what me and my family love to play. Some people call it overrated but Gears 2 delivers everything it said it would.

Gears of war 2 is a great game. Well developed, very good graphics, and a good storyline continued from the first installment. The best part of the game is the multiplayer online games. I have played many.many.many hours online and it is just so addicting. I have been playing gears well before I purchased part 2 and I was waiting for it to come down in price. Not only did I get a great price on this game but it was shipped quickly and in perfect condition. Must buy for every video game fan.

To me when you have to ride these things and shoot its just not fun to me. The multiplayer part of the game is by far the best I have every played. I had to give this game a 5 star rating. All in All a great game, but even the greats have their down points. Sniper for instance.

Like most players I know including myself, once you beat a game you throw it in the draw for it to collect dust or go trade it in for another one, but this game keeps you coming back for more and more. I like running around and use strategy to kill enemies. As far as game play goes there are not to many down sides. The only down sides to the game is the ending of the game, the time it takes to get a group of people to play on multiplayer (of course this may be due to some technical issues with the host or connection to the internet, not real sure), and the tedious riding of tanks, wierd ell looking thing, or Hum V looking things. The game has impecable graphics and action at every turn.

You travel from stage to stage with an objective in mind and you crush any opposition that comes your way. I have already beating this game yet I keep playing it, its that good. If you want a fast pace shoot first and ask questions last blood brawl, then this game is a must have. Even better than the All Great and Mighty HALO (Yes, I said it). To fully enjoy those graphics you need to get an HDMI TV and cable to really get all the game was ment to give.

So if ur not swayed by angry acne scarred adolesents, then grab this game and have some serious fun. Now with used games available and price drops the game is a must have. I dont understand these bad reviewers, unless they are just entering puberty and battling pimples and are nookie starved. The cut scenes were great and so was the heart pounding monster battles. Finally finding Dom's wife and seeing her as a mutant and then Dom having to kill her to save her more pain, was a tear jerker, seriously. I was engrossed in the game from the start to the end, the visuals were stunning, many times I wud jus stop playing and look around the envirement in awe. Getting swallowed by giant worms and sea creatures was totally wicked and having to cut ur way our was so cool.
